We were spending the day exploring Monterey and needed a quick lunch. This was just the answer! Sandwiches & salads are fresh & delicious. We ate outside at tables provided and had a lovely visit w/a family visiting from Brazil that shared our table. We saved our $ for a fresh seafood dinner later overlooking the wharf. 😊

Skip the tourist traps on Fisherman's Wharf and Head straight to The Wharf Marketplace. The market's lunch offerings made from local ingredients are delicious. I ordered an amazing steak sandwich and my wife ordered a fantastic salad. We sat outside and admired the bay while eating. After your great lunch bring home some more of the area's food bounty. The Wharf Marketplace serves amazing food to eat in a great setting and offers great options to bring home so you can remember your trip.

There's much to see in Monterey, CA. There's the Aquarium, Cannery Row, Whale Watching... But if you want a true taste of the local color, you've got to visit the Wharf Marketplace.
You won't have to look far for Brant Good, GM, and resident ambassador of great story-telling. He's got a reputation around town for being one of America's Best Chefs too, and he usually has a fan club tagging along as he paces his establishment, making sure everyone's abundantly happy.
The Marketplace is a historic train station that's been converted into a place where people gather for locally grown produce, have an organic deli sandwich, sip on a glass of locally produced wine and enjoy the ambiance of one of Monterey's finest destinations.
Brant delivers a delicious, fascinating, passionate story about the Marketplace. He pulls people into his passion. He makes people lean in for more (I did). Brant's story-telling, his enthusiasm for the place, the people, the produce, the history... his love affair with the Wharf Marketplace is contagious!
Not surprisingly, the associates are equally passionate and caring about their customers as Brant. They too have a love affair with locally grown organic food, the rich history of the place and the people who visit.
I just returned across the country to my home in Florida. What I remember most about my visit is not the famous Aquarium, Cannery Row, or the Whale Watching. What I remember most, and miss most, are the cool people of the Wharf Marketplace.

We walked 1.5 miles along cannery row and the Fisherman’s wharf to get here for lunch and found out it’s PERMANENTLY CLOSED as of March 15, 2018. What a disappointment and a waste of time!

This comes up as an activity, but it's really just a coffee shop with food, groceries, and wine. It's not so much an activity as a quick stop for a bite or coffee, maybe a wine tasting.

I've eaten here several times, the location is great and perfect for meeting clients for lunch. The last time, and it probably will be the last, was Saturday when a friend and I stopped for lunch. The food is usually good, the prices a little high but nothing crazy. The drawback and it's a big one is that the service has been consistently poor. This time I was served an iced tea that was quite literally water. I can't for the life of me figure out how the counter server couldn't have looked at the cup and seen that she was serving something that didn't even remotely resemble iced tea. When I questioned her, I got a snotty retort. I took a sip, yes, it was water with the barest taste of tea (think 1 tea bag in a few gallons of water). She said it hadn't finished brewing. So why serve it? I asked her if I could wait for the brewed tea. She grabbed the cup, tossed it out and turned away. I ate my sandwich, waiting for the iced tea, it never came so I went back to the counter, asked for the iced tea, was again handed a cup of colored water, again told her that it wasn't iced tea and got a soft drink instead. The attitude of both the barista and the counter server was completely unacceptable. They were both rude and totally devoid of customer service skills. I'm not interested in spending my money to be treated poorly, it doesn't matter how good the food is. Since this is the third time I've visited with poor service, I'm done.

Ate both lunch and breakfast here on a 24-hour stopover in Monterey. Great salad bar and delicious sandwiches. Coffee also spot-on. Broad range on breakfast menu - can recommend the egg and avocado on toast. Really fresh food ingredients also available to buy. Has a great feel to the place and staff extremely helpful and friendly. Can't recommend highly enough!

Visitors to the Monterey Peninsula, add "The Wharf Marketplace (TWM)" to your itinerary. Locals, go and support a wonderful local business.
Just had a most excellent lunch at the "TWM "today. Tomato Bisque and a fresh Cod Panini, reasonably priced and delicious.
As a frequent visitor to Monterey, I have been watching the developments at "TWM" since they opened, and I was worried, that the concept of a Market Hall would not survive.
However, as a big fan, I do like the fact, that management is adapting and I very much want them to succeed.
Although, I was sad to see the fresh fish counter morph into a salad bar, I think, that ultimately, it was a good move to offer more prepared foods.
I really love the indoor space, it is airy and inviting.
On warm, sunny afternoons, it is the perfect place to have lunch.
Sitting on an outdoor table, with fresh ocean air, enjoying a delicious lunch, is certainly a treat, and on chilly breezy days, the indoor tables are a very good alternative.
Check out out the locally grown produce in the cooler section, fresh and very reasonable priced.
I do like the selection of bottle beers, as well, as the selection of beers on tap.
For wine drinkers, check out the locally produced wines and pick up a bottle for a romantic sunset drink.
After Lunch go for a stroll on the walking/biking trail, to soak in the spectacular views of Monterey Bay and take a detour on the fishing pier to enjoy the marine wildlife.
The Wharf Marketplace should be a permanent addition to the local culinary scene and with your support it will thrive, to be enjoyed by many visitors and locals alike.

Had lunch here twice so far on our stay in the area from the UK. Food was fresh, healthy and tasty and served with a smile. Place is always buzzing, as we are staying in a nearby hotel, we're not in the market to buy fresh food, but it looks an amazing deli with plenty of organic produce.
Chicken club sandwich is a favourite!

Two of us walked from the aquarium, heading back to Del Monterey beach neighborhood. We stopped at this market for coffee and light bfast. I had a delicious cafe latte and a fresh pastry. Very pleasant area to sit and people watch, inside or out. The market had lots of options if you're visiting the area and want to put a picnic together, or they can make you something. It's all fresh and tasty.

Hi, If you mean the Taco Truck in the nearby parking lot down the road a bit, yes. But never sure of their hours. Otherwise, I don't know about a truck always being there.
