    Enjoyable Visit to Cannery Row
I really love Cannery Row. There are so many great restaurants and a lot of variety in restaurants compared to Old Fisherman’s Wharf. The walk along the bike path and along Cannery Row itself is very pleasant. The aquarium is at the far end of Cannery Row. We enjoyed walking to the aquarium from our hotel near the wharf and taking the trolley back. There is a nice souvenir store specializing in sea otter merchandise about a block from the aquarium. It is better to purchase souvenirs outside the aquarium because everything in the aquarium is expensive.

    Tourist area average
Typical tourist strip on cannery row. Mamy shops are low end and dirty. A few good spots include aquarium, m.p. hotel 5 star. Some mediocre food and shops . Love the surrounding area and love the bay. Town needs to improve a bit and expand its things to do. So spend 1 day then drive out side area to carmel big sur to round out trip.

    Enjoyable
Its a touristy area but retains some authenticity in its buildings and is an attractive street. Loved the Fish Hopper restaurant and we enjoyed Treasure Ride. Of course the aquarium is the big attraction but you might spot sea life anyway, look out for sea otters and sea lions wherever you get an outlook over the bay.

It was OK, not like it used to be.
We hadn’t been since before COVID. Spent a couple of hours strolling the shops and waterfront. Honestly, it wasn’t like we remembered it. It was clean, we felt safe. There were not as many kid-friendly shops as there once was. Not a huge selection of places to eat on Cannery Row itself. One would need to walk a couple blocks to Foam St for a different selection of restaurants – and even then, they are not that kid-friendly. The convenience is that it’s a place to go after leaving the Aquarium. It’s right next to the water line. However, our family had more fun at the Fisherman’s Wharf even though it’s not as expansive as Cannery Row. Minus expectations, I’d give it 2.5 stars but I’m rounding down.

Do go it’s a rip off.
We thought this would be an interesting place to visit. Total tourist trap and 80.00 to park. Food and drink were ok and things a bit overpriced. Serious price gouging in the parking lots. When we returned to our parking garage he lowered the price to $60. Totally disappointed with it. Won’t be back nor recommend.

    Very fishy history
While staying in the area we spent time in Cannery Row. Lots of old buildings and cannery’s to admire. The history of the place and the sardine industry was very interesting to learn. Very busy place. Loved the big statue there showing the people who in history young and old have been relevant to the area. Great place to visit, don’t miss it when your in Monterey

    Cannery Row was LIT!
Cannery Row is a ton of fun! Lots of great shops, cafes, views of the ocean....it's great fun to shop around, and be sure to get some Ghirardelli chocolate! Tip 1. Set your GPS for the Aquarium, it's easy to find the shops from there! Tip 2. Park on a side street, ita free for 90 minutes or 2 hours, depending on where you park. It's a short walk from there!

I thought this would be a nice area with cute shops. Not that. Dirty and very touristy with cheap stuff in shops. Could be so much more.

Avoid Cannery Row!! They ripped us off! My wife and I reserved at Cannery row for five days. On our second day, we had a dental emergency. The front desk told us if we had vacated by the next morning's check out, we would be excused, no problem. After leaving the next morning and checking our bill, I saw we were charged and extra $150 for the second nite (Monday) than the day before (Sunday). I called the hotel and was told rates change by the hour and we got charged more for a Monday nite than Sunday. Hotels.com had the room rate the same as we originally were charged.
