The best place to learn about some of Merced's history

This should be included in any road trip through California's gold country. A fun afternoon to spend a few hours.

It's a cool little place with very nice staff. It gives you good insight on Merceds development and different things that happened in the valley. Not a very large museum.

If you are interested in Merced or Central Valley of California, this is an excellent museum! Mostly volunteer staff does a very good job and the full time Director, Sarah Lim, is exceptional ! Interesting exhibits change regularly and a nice little shop offer lots of interesting books and other items at good prices.

We spent 2 hours here & could have spent longer. Our guide was great, patient & very knowledgable about the local area, he even suggested other sights to see & recommended local restaurants. The courtroom upstairs is impressive & the maps of the local area are interesting. I would highly recommend a visit whether you are from the area or... More

We actually viewed this place as a wedding venue, but was plenty surprised by the exhibits that told the story of Merced before it's present. I actually learned so much about the city's history. The volunteers who serve as guides and oversees the gift store were warm and so knowledgeable. I highly recommend people visit this free museum if you... More

Wonderful stay after the mid-night driving from Yosemite, warmness keeps away the tiredness. Especially thank to the fron desk lady Maria, her kind help assists us and especially helpful to our kid.

This museum's displays change I believe once per month. Excellent history-great time to spend with family. Docents are very good.

The Hmong display was neat... the rest of the courthouse is cute and well spread out. It is small but big enough to spend at least 1hr.

I was actually viewing this for a wedding venue choice - lived in the area almost all my life and never had a visited. It is definitely a hidden treasure. The second floor is full of fascinating objects around the time of Merced's early years. There was much to see and even more to learn. My personal favorite was a... More
