A visit to the Mendocino coast in Northern California would not be complete without a stop at Papa Bear's Chocolate Haus for homemade treats of exceptional quality. Try the white chocolate with fresh raspberry bars, milk or dark chocolate rocky road, classic bear paws with caramel and pecans covered in chocolate or orange jelly sticks. For a real treat, indulge... More

The dark Choc. Rocky Road candies are the very very best - they have the best semi. sweet choc. of any where we've found!

I've been here many times, and it's always the same welcome greeting .... which is none at all. It's more like ... yeah, what do you want? Why did you come in? No, Chocolates for you! hahaha. It's actually quite funny, I purposely make the older woman (the rudest) talk to me by asking many questions. I do enjoy the... More

The teenagers serving were probably the most miserable staff we've seen in a long time... they didn't even smile. Come on guys - at least make an effort... Chocolate was excellent - salted caramel was yummy! :-)

Love this chocolate shop. Like Mendocino, it is small with a lot of charm and taste. Overlooks the bluffs along the boardwalk and offers a fun variety of taffy, caramel, caramel apples, chocolate, wafers, etc. I love the dark chocolate and sea salt caramel, peanut butter chocolate, and raspberry bark. Delightful little chocolate shop worth stopping into.

Just a small place but oh sooo good. We each chose our favorite, then we agreed on one to split. The mint dark chocolate has ruined me for all other versions. The best.

I've been an avid fan of Papa Bear's for the last 15+ years. Robert's confectionary artistry had never disappointed. Try the white chocolate raspberry bark, turtles, fudge, fruit jelly sticks .... everything is superlative. Robert creates old world chocolates - rich, smooth, balanced, and not too sweet. Worth every penny!!
