The museum tells the story of the Kelly family, one of the first residents in the Village, and of the logging industry in the area. There are a lot of historical objects, photos, and local volunteers help make sense of it. I had a lot of fun there.

The tour guide was knowledgeable and entertaining with a costume suite that was so authentic that it even showed the wear on the color and cuffs. They ask for a small donation $10 a person but this 2 ½ tour was worth more than that. The tour left us wishing we did not have some were to be as we... More

We only toured the house so I cannot comment on the walking tour. It was on a weekday and we were the only ones there. The admission is only what you want to donate. The museum was nothing special but the information was great. We got a great history of the town and area. Without it we would not have... More

On our first full day in Mendocino, we decided to try the Kelley House walking tour (weekends only). This three hour tour was led by a delightful docent dressed in 19th century attire consistent with the role he played as our tour guide. This man was funny and very knowledgeable of the history of this charming community. Many questions were... More

Joined the 2-hour walking tour of Mendocino conducted by Jane T, a fascinating story teller and one of the Kelly House docents. It was a great way to see and understand how this charming and remote city came to be.

We stopped by to take the walking tour. Then the rain intensified and we stayed inside and talked to the two docents for about an hour. They gave us a custom tour of the small museum of town history that included town establishment (shipwrecks, logging), mid twentieth century neglect, and subsequent revival toward the arts/tourist Mecca of today. They also... More

Our visit to the Kelley House gave us an understanding of how the town of Mendocino came to be. The Ford Museum across the street rounded out the information. They have a short movie that gives the history of the area.
