Top ways to experience Paradise Cove
The area
Neighbourhood: Malibu
The Malibu coastline is like a chameleon. In some areas it resembles the French Riviera with its lush, green hillsides descending into crescent-shaped shorelines. In others, it feels 100% Southern Californian with beaches wide and flat as a football field, and often crowded with beach-goers lounging on towels and playing volleyball. Other coastlines still feel secluded, tucked under tall cliffs and dotted with stunning rock formations. In certain areas, where the ocean waves are just right, surfers can be seen bobbing in the water. Up in the mountains to the east hikers take in truly stunning views of the ocean and the sprawling Los Angeles landscape. And along Pacific Coast Highway, restaurants are filled with visitors and locals from all walks of life. Stumble into the right place at the right time, and you’ll likely encounter a celebrity.

Must book and prepare to wait.

The larger portions ever at relaively fair prices.

Get a table on the beach.

Excellent service.

Don’t waste your time! Our lunch at the restaurant was very average and the service was poor. The Clam Chowder was tasteless and the clams chewy. The burgers were overcooked and very pricey. There are plenty of good places to eat, so don’t waste your time.

Don’t Go To Paradise Cove - not a Paradise anymore
Jun 2021 • Family
I usually don’t post bad reviews. Just don’t go back but this experience was so bad that it changed my mind. Got to warn people from rolling into the trap it has become.
I have been coming to PCBC for about 18 years It was a place that my wife and I associate special memories with.
We usually go to Paradise Cove whenever our travels take us to LA.
I am in the hospitality business managing hotels and restaurants all over the world incl LA
Unfortunately our experience yesterday was so poor and actually upsetting that I decided to write about it.
Usually I don’t. I can’t be bothered.
It started with the lunch. While service was just ok, just slow and not alert the food quality was pretty bad. We used to love your mussels you had a light white wine and garlic sauce with a touch of cream.
Yesterday it was just cream. So thick and had no taste of wine or seafood.
Pretty horrid. Especially for $32 and the steep prices you charge.
Half of the mussels were still closed abs every kid knows that one does not pry open closed mussel shells. On top of it the tip of the pot was cold.
I wanted to complain and sent it back but my wife stopped me. I should have sent them back. The Tortilla soup was too thick and flat in taste. The French fried cold.
Then came the beach experience which is the main reason I am writing this review. We never went to PC for the food. So those expectations are pretty low. But this time was not edible.
On to the beach…..
We called and reserved 2 beds for $400!!
I paid $200 down online
We specifically called ahead and asked if it was ok to bring our little white Bichon Frisée, my wife’s service dog!
The lady on the phone said it was no problem as long as it is a service dog.
So after the lunch we proceeded to spend the afternoon at our sunbeds. This was at around 1pm’ish.
All was ok from 1-4 pm when suddenly a Guest relations person, came over and told us to put the dog down and off the bed. He was not polite kind of “demanding”
We tried to explain that it was specifically ok’d on the phone and for 3 hours no one said a word. The beach beds were not all taken. Many free ones behind us. No one was bothered by our service animal.
He got very stubborn and eventually rude.
I had a heated exchange with him as he would not even give us 5 mins to pack up and leave peacefully, as I was so upset by his arrogant and bullish behavior.
He is the wrong person to be in guest relations. He has zero skill. I have managed hotels all over the world and this guy takes his problems to work.
So he stood there and let us scramble around. It was a terrible degrading experience. Even while we were collecting our things and getting ready to leave prematurely he kept watching and forcefully continuously demanding to “to put the dog down”. He saw we were packing up. Why not let us just leave. He kept barking at us drawing attention to us from people walking along the beach. It was degrading.
“Little Person Power Syndrome”. He clearly let it get to his head.
He claimed that dogs are not allowed in hotels etc. that is wrong as we are staying at a hotel in Hollywood with our service dog right now.
I am very upset.
We spent over $650 dollars at your establishment between parking, food, sun beds.
Sorry, so terrible and inappropriate guest relation management
I guess my 2 decade long love affair with Paradise Cove is coming to an end.
I tried to call and complain. They put me on hold and disconnected - twice !!!

Great day trip
Mar 2021 • Family
Spent a day at the beach here. I recommend making reservations for the lounge chairs but we didn't and were still able to get 4 chairs next to each other. Double chairs are $100 on weekdays and we found it to be worth it. The guys that help with the chairs are fantastic! They lay out the towels for on the chairs and fix the umbrella to your liking
You can bring your own snacks and beverages but there is a Cafe. You go up to order and receive a buzzer to get the order when ready. The food takes quite a while so I wouldn't wait until your starving to order. An overall great day and will definitely return.

Tacky Tourist Trap Avoid
Mar 2021 • Couples
Seems to be a parking scam $35-50 if you do not dine, 2 hour wait to dine for $8 parking validation. Lived in Los Angeles for 50 years and have always avoided this place on advice of friends. Against my better judgement we drove in today but discovered there was a 2 hour wait to dine, and just to leave to go somewhere else cost $35 on weekdays, and $50 on weekends. We paid $35 just to get out of this private, tacky beach compound. There are plenty of other places, including state parks nearby which offer much more value and a quality experience, for example Neptune’s Net a few miles north.

Actually any of the good beaches cost to park that’s the price of Malibu.
I have been going to paradise cove Malibu almost every other weekend it’s such a awesome place so what if it’s costly it’s a lot safer than some of there other beach very strict rules right now on wearing and I like that and we feel a little safer and free from being cooped up all the time and my grandsons favorite place!!
The staff and security are very good and if you don’t want to pay for parking just park outside on the road if you can find parking and get there very early on weekends. Great Job paradise cove Malibu !!!!!

This is was one of the worst experiences I have had from a customer service perspective. I just contacted the manager simply to express my concerns about the information that was provided to us and the attitude/lack of attention presented by the host and beach attendant. His response was that he did not look over the beach side and there was nothing he could do for me from a restaurant perspective. We were misquoted a wait time by 1 1/2 hours which really set us back on our day. We ended up not being able to dine there and left our beach spot much earlier than expected due to the experience. There was never an apology offered or a concern to address the situation. We dine here every year when camping in Malibu. I am not sure if we will give them another opportunity due to this.

Great food, amazing location, attentive staff but you're gonna share the beach with the hoi-polio.

We had the breakfast...fantastic, a couple of amazing cocktails. Still my favorite Huevos Rancheros in LA. Brilliant. $125

Booked an enclosed beach slot - $100, wonderful.

Parking... $50 (high but not ridiculous.)

Bought some ice creams and candy... $30

So, folks, this is going to be an expensive day at the beach, make no bones about it.

Sharing the beach with cheapo families who must have parked on the PCH and walked down for free...not so great, especially when they sit in front of you wearing street clothes for hours drinking Modelos they must have brought themselves. Ak.

Another family was blasting out Santana's greatest hits for hours - great for me as it's my favorite band of all time but what if you're not a huge Santana fan?

I don't get some of the reviewers other gripes about the food. The food is fine. It's the ambiance you're paying for and the Beach Boys memories (they shot some album covers here) and it's also the location of the Rockford Files.). So for $400 you are going to be sharing the beach (and people may end up standing right in front of you) blocking the ocean view. My wife overheard one lady complaining about the "entertainment" - a large party was playing loud music and dancing as if it was their private beach. That's the problem with Paradise Cove Cafe. There's the Cafe and there's the public beach. You park on PCH, skip the parking fees, bring your own beer, situate yourself in front of someone who's paid $$$ for a private COVID slot and it's a great day out.

Not what it used to be!
Jul 2020 • Friends
This place used to be such a hidden gem but now that it’s gained popularity it is very crowded and noisy. I had to wait almost an hour to get grab and go drinks to drink back on the beach. We rented one of the beach bags but it was still very crowded with people all around us and the beds were very close together. Not as relaxing as we were hoping but still a fun day! The beach also closed very early at 5 PM and kicked everyone out very quickly
