Taking the Ray Miller trailhead for 3/4 of a mile will put you right and the small falls in La Jolla Canyon. Easy to get up and back in an hour. Great time of the year to see the wildflowers. Check out the map and make sure you take the right route. Current rains have caused some erosion of the... More

Great spot for hiking! Not far outside Malibu about 10 miles from Zuma beach, right along the Pacific Coast Highway is Point Mogu Start Park. We parked at the campground and walked to the Scenic Trail for a wonderful two mile hike. The trail is an easy walk but the first half a mile is relatively steep. Once you get... More

We wanted to see wildflowers and kept seeing references to the in La Jolla Canyon. The trail is supposedly closed but there were many, many people on it. We went about 9 am on a Saturday. The sign about the closure is large but still not obvious. After some debate and seeing others go up the trail we went ahead... More

Picked Thornhill primitive site for something a little different on our RV trip around California. This was our home for two nights as we explored Channel Islands National Park. Easy checkin, parking on pavement, feet in the sand. Some trash and the beaches aren't as pretty as the Gulf of Mexico but we really enjoyed this spot. Beautiful sunrises and... More

Spectacular view of the mountains and rock formations. Beach access and picnic area. Pay for beach access. But the pictures you'll get are worth it.

I don't care how cold it is or how crazy the waves are, I will jump into the water at this beach. Hurricane in another state causing the waves to be insane? No problem. 50 degrees? No problem. It's a great beach.

We often camp at Thornhill Broome campground. It is a primitive campground with only porta poties and one source of running water (near the porta poties). My husband and I have been multiple times now and have always loved it. You may pitch your tent directly on the sand, fire pits are maintained, and there is a picnic table at... More

This beach is a long way from housing and hasn't seemed very crowded when we've been there. We mostly go to have people look at the big rock. It is pretty close to PCH so traffic is a bit loud. You have to pay for parking, but that is typical in the area.

We traveled out to this "Park" which is beautiful, but judging by the lack of parking and constant security patrols it is clear the locals don't want visitors
