The Malibu coastline is like a chameleon. In some areas it resembles the French Riviera with its lush, green hillsides descending into crescent-shaped shorelines. In others, it feels 100% Southern Californian with beaches wide and flat as a football field, and often crowded with beach-goers lounging on towels and playing volleyball. Other coastlines still feel secluded, tucked under tall cliffs and dotted with stunning rock formations. In certain areas, where the ocean waves are just right, surfers can be seen bobbing in the water. Up in the mountains to the east hikers take in truly stunning views of the ocean and the sprawling Los Angeles landscape. And along Pacific Coast Highway, restaurants are filled with visitors and locals from all walks of life. Stumble into the right place at the right time, and you’ll likely encounter a celebrity.

Zuma Beach in Malibu is an awesome large sandy beach. The beach is generally not so crowded. It offers volleyball courts and bathrooms. There is a charge for parking.

Parking there costs USD 10,00 - That's the only bad thing.
The area is known as california riviera... wonderful.
Many original scenes of Baywath (with David Hasselhoff) were filmed there.
Laying in the sand i'm dreaming from Erika Eleniak and Carmen Electra with my wife by my side ;-)
There are restrooms to your needs and much, much place!

I’m not sure if I was beached out, but I was disappointed by Zuma Beach. It seems to be the beach made to host a large number of people. When I visited it was after some bad storms, so it was covered in seaweed and sea foam. They also had piles of sand waiting to be pushed out to deal with the erosion from all the rain. There is a nice path along the edge of the beach and the parking lot. The lot costs, but there is also parking along PCH which is free.

Incredible beach. It's huge! My son and I spent hours having fun in the waves. Depending on weather/conditions, be careful. The ocean had a strong undertow the day we were there. Lots of lifeguards and rescue around the area though. Very clean surroundings. Would go back again.

This is what California is all about. Long beach with views forever. Locals love the surf and unblemished nature of this spot.

Had a great day surfing and boogie boarding while visiting the area. Be aware that most bathrooms are closed. The only one we found open was behind the snack shack at lifeguard station 4. It has decent outdoor showers but stalls need cleaning. Parking was $15 (or free on PCH).

Too much seaweed in the ocean and on the sand. The piles of seaweed attract swarms of mosquitoes. The ocean is swimmable but currents are not the mildest. Manhattan Beach beats this place by far.

Great beach with easy access and friendly locals. I felt safe parking our car within eye shot and leaving our belongings on the beach while we played in the water. We enjoyed watching the locals surf and everyone was so friendly. We enjoyed our day at Zuma Beach!

Big, wide beach with lots of space and lots of parking just off from Highway 1. Just slightly let-down by some of the toilets being closed and a number of kids' summer camps going on which were just a bit raucous

Have always loved coming to Zuma beach no matter the time of year. It’s always a reliably clean beach. You can park for free on PCH and the beach is long and wide open. It’s usually pretty windy so good chance you’ll see windsurfers riding the waves. Bathrooms were open and decent.
