It's the Wine Industry’s Best Kept Secret – wineries making award-winning wines just south of Yosemite National Forest. Madera County has a long tradition producing wine and is one of the oldest grape growing regions in America. The Madera Vintners Association was organized in 2001 as a collaborative effort by the area's family winemakers, a group of dedicated individuals whose common purpose is to promote excellence in winemaking and help direct a region rich in potential through a commitment to modern winemaking techniques and sustainable vineyard practices.

Madera Wine Trail

Do not miss Birdstone, Ficklin or Quady. Madera has some fine wineries, the wine trail also has hors d'oevres. Birdstone is scenic and has grass for a picnic.

First, you drive ALOT. These wineries are spread out! Second, not all wineries are open every day. Some only on weekends and some only by appt. Third, most are of the sweet wine which some people make not like as much. Ficklin and Quady are really good! Good wines and the staff that worked at those places were very nice.... More

We were coming back from Yosemite and saw the signs for the Wine Trail so we decided to try it out. The first winery is really difficult to find and we found out that it's by appointment only. Second winery, Fassi, was excellent and we had a great time there. Third winery was closed. None were close to each other,... More

Some of the oldest continuous wineries in the state of California. Offer red, white, port and dessert wines.

Did the trail on a Monday. Half the wineries are closed and half of the remaining wineries don't ship to all or almost all states. Did find a few that we enjoyed. Looks like the weekend is the best time to go.

I had the pleasure of stopping at several wineries on the Madera wine trail. I was very impressed by how friendly and welcoming each place was. They offer a variety of excellent wines. It's a great way to spend a day!

The Madera Wine Trail is a great way to spend a day or weekend. It's held several times per year (our favorite is the February event, wine and chocolate!). There are many great wineries to visit and each has something special and unique. Go as a couple or a group, a great time is guaranteed!

This event is an excellent way of sampling a variety of wines directly from the winery. The event is set up to rotate to a variety of different wineries and sample at each. There is some significant driving between some of the wineries. There is usually an assortment of appetizers at each site to go along with the wine. Once... More

Madera wine trail has many different types of wineries. The trail is marked quite nicely and you can pick up a map at any of the participating wineries. The area is so beautiful and the first weekend in November is their holiday event. Many of the wineries have music and special vendors. So many wineries and so little time. Come... More
