We stopped here on the way from Yosemite to SFO. Its on the Madera wine trail, we did not stop anywhere else. Learnt a little bit about how they make port which was interesting. I enjoy an occasional port with a cigar & they sell both at the winery :) There is not much of a tour, but the lady at the tasting room was very... More

Love this out of the way winery. I love Port and this is the place for Port. They are a little disorganized in the tasting room, which is also not clearly marked to get to, but they are kind and generous with the tastes.

I now have the good fortune to live near the Madera Wine Trail. While family was visiting we decided to try out FICKLIN, as my Husband is of Portuguese heritage. We were impressed with their OLD VINE TINTA PORTA. It is made from four of the varietals from vines the family planted in the 1940s. The Woman in the tasting... More

Ficklin grows their grapes on old vines from Portugal. Their 20 year old port is quite decent, but does not compare to port in Portugal, where it is frequently aged from 40 to 100 years. In my opinion, port is defined by the aging process. Ficklin does have some older ports, but they are quite pricy and don't offer them... More

What a treat to have a private tasting at Ficklin Vineyards. The people were wonderful. Lots of information, explanations and, of course, lots of great ports to taste. Got some good cigars too. Well worth the drive from Fresno.

We stopped by to do a bit of wine tasting. One of the employees came our and greeted us. We had not done enough research, as they mainly do sweet wines and ports. WE don't. We did taste one of there wines, but that was too sweet for us. We would recommend a visit here if you are more on... More

If you have never tried a Port, this is the place. Their Twang Port aged 10 years is the Best. If you are in the neighborhood of Madera check them out. Good place to stop out of Yosemite.

Enjoy there ports and wines. The Tappit is great if you are nearby or traveling through. Great tastes at a reasonable price, friendly staff and good wine club.
