Extremely popular park for hikers and rock climbing castle rock has it all. We regularly enjoy the six mile loop trail out to the campground and back to the parking areas. Trail begins in redwood forest then passes cavernous rock formations popular for beginning and...More

Castle Rock has been my free climbing park for over 20 years. It is always clean and has ranger support. Cost for parking, but can park on Summit Road. You can climb Goat Rock or Castle Rock. I have done both free climbing on both....More

The huge boulders here are amazing. If you are a climber, there are small and large rocks to challenge your skills. The nooks and sitting spots are fun for taking a break and enjoying the view. For some reason, its easy to spend a few...More

Too crowded on weekends. Dusty and dry. Better off going in the winter or late spring. No water in the waterfall or creek bed. Shooting range noise and jet overflights ruin the experience. Weird ranger. Maze of unofficial trails. Place feels somewhat worn out due...More

There are plenty of trails to keep you hiking for the day. A nice quick hike is down to the falls and you’ll have a view that is awesome. There is some decent climbing for those that want to get out of the gym and...More

There are many trails and several loops. Beautiful falls. Some of the trails are a little scary with anchors on the cliffs to hold onto. Some actual climbing areas always seem to be in use.

Castle Rock has several amazing sites. You can either hike up to Castle Rock for the views and some climbing fun on the rocks, or you can head down to the waterfall. For the waterfall it is best to go in early spring when it...More

We loved it here, however the hike was a bit more rigorous and much longer than we thought it would be, but it’s lovely. It has beautiful views of the valley and we could almost see to the ocean. Parking is tough so get there...More

It is not a very long walk. You walk from the parking area down to the waterfall and then back up. Less than a mile each way. You can also walk up to Castle Rock which is less than 1/2 mile each way.
