We took this tour with Phil and loved the combination of history, ranging locations and his own knowledge and passion for LA. He took us to places we would never have found ourselves and brought together information old and new with fascinating stories. Thanks Phil. We had only a short time in LA and realise there is so much to return for in the future. Ruth and John from Scotland.

We loved this tour! Michael, our excellent tour guide, explained so much about the history of Downtown and it's evolution from the 1800's to today as reflected in the architecture, old and new, of Downtown. I'm a native of L.A. and couldn't believe how much I didn't know! I highly recommend this tour!

We had a blast! This tour ain't for the faint of heart. It's for people who love creepy things, enjoy learning and getting exercise simultaneously. One great thing about this tour--and traveling--is the unexpected. Because you walk through downtown LA at night, you experience the city's grime. For example, we saw tent city for the homeless, urine smells on the sidewalk, and a bum ask our group for money, all of which added to the tour's creepiness. I LOVED IT SO MUCH!! Highlight of visiting LA for me. This tour made me want to read a book on some of the events that we learned of.

Our guide Marianna was informative, nice, and informative. Though you don't enter any of the buildings, Mariana helped our group visualize the past, she showed us photos and videos on her IPAD. I hope this becomes her career.

Advice. If you're using GPS to find the Pico House (the starting point), make sure you type 424 NORTH Main Street. We went to 424 Main Street and arrived 15 minutes late, thus missing the Chinese Massacre.

My teenage daughter and I really enjoyed the tour, we are planning on taking the rest of tours on the website. We are Los Angeles (South Bay Area) residents but haven't taken the time to really see the city and learn some history. We recommend the tours when you visit L.A!

We planned a day trip to LA via the Metrolink train. The day before the tour, a text was sent out with location, guides name and number. Great communication! Finding the meet spot and guide (Neel) was super easy. Neel was full of energy, sharing many fun details about buildings, sites, and streets we were walking through and by. He would show us film shots or clips of the locations we stopped to view. Although there were many movies I had not seen, it was still fun to see how they were used. He is very knowledgeable about the film industry's use of LA streets and buildings. It is very evident that he enjoys leading the tours, being very personable with each person within the group. Our group was about 10, so by the end of the tour, each person had a chance to talk to him or ask any questions one-on-one. During the tour, he pointed out many locations that would fun to go back and visit when you have more time to enjoy (including many local food/drink spots). I already have a list started for my next downtown trip. The 2-hour tour was a perfect amount of time to get a good taste of an interesting part of downtown. I am ready for another of their tours.

This was a great walking tour which shows the different movie locations around downtown LA. The guide was great. She was like a library of information. Importantly she was very down to earth and friendly.

We did a tour a few weeks ago. The guide was great. However the tour starts too early to see Chinatown in action. Everything was closed. We saw some interesting film location spots then we took the train to Little Tokyo. Some history of the area but mainly a walk through the shops. You could however walk these areas on your own.

My partner and I recently did the Old and New Downtown LA walking tour. We had a really enjoyable time.

Our guide on the day was Nikki. A native of Florida, and a writer, Nikki moved to LA with a friend who didn't want to make the move by herself.

Our group was small: two Aussies (that would be us); a cute student at UCLA and her dad from Michigan; and a couple from Singapore who divide their time between Singapore and Melbourne Australia.

The tour starting point was easy to find. We were immediately greeted by a warm and welcoming Nikki and we set out on the tour. Good walking tours take you to places you might not otherwise find on your own, and they give you a glimpse into time, place and culture.

The Old and New tour is themed around history and changes in the downtown area. It's a story of what has been lost (Broadway and a once-vibrant theatre district); preserved (the beautiful lobby of the Bradbury building); and new (people wanting to live in downtown).

The stops on the tour are all interesting. Nikki weaves together historical facts, popular culture and film references, images on an iPad, and her own personal experience of choosing to move to and live in LA.

I found this tour a really enjoyable way of gaining an insight into the downtown area. Nikki and the group were a great bunch of people to spend a couple of hours with.

This tour is well worth doing.

Our tour, lead by budding famous historical novelist and all-around interesting person Nikki, was one of the highlights of our 4-day stay in downtown LA. She knows all the most interesting (and salacious) details about Downtown's history, and her insights into Downtown's recent gentrification and homeless problems were incisive and provocative. If you're all crazy to date someone interesting, wouldn't you want to find out a little about him/her before you go away for a whirlwind weekend? If you want to spend a whirlwind weekend in Downtown LA, wouldn't you like to know more about this fascinating place? Get the real truth about Olvera Street! One of the most famous names in entertainment history used to stop in nearly daily at Clifton's Cafeteria -- Nikki knows who! (And she'll tell you that fact and around 500 more with you in less than 2 hours.) Super fun, super interesting! And be sure and get her autograph!!

I booked a tour with Neel and ended up being the only one on it. However unlike another tour group who canceled my reservation when I was the only one Neel actually took me out. He is a native to LA and actually lives downtown. It was a fantastic 2 hours spent exploring DTLA and since I was the only one he tailored it specifically to my interests. Really enjoyed learning more about the city and definitely walked away with a more holistic appreciation for LA. Highly recommended.
