As for my first time there all I could say is MAGICAL! I believe that the price of the ticket is very low comparing to what it offers. We watched "beauty and the beast" and after that we got to see the original costumes and objects that were used in the film! I'll certainly visit again!

Since Disney reopened the historic El Capitan Theatre (built in the 1920's, along with Graumann's Chinese and Egyptian Theatres) in 1991, they make a very special opening run for all their movies there. The theater gets special decorations for each new film, and there is always a display downstairs of the costumes. They often have live appearances of cast members... More

Love this a theater and this is where all our Disney screenings are seen at. But today, the sound system was SO loud that it affected mine and my children's hearing today. My Daughter's ears were ringing after the 3p.m. show. It was bad enough that I contacted the theater about it. The Chinese Mann ruined their sound system a... More

I was lucky that I came to LA when the box-office movie 'Beauty and The Beast' was on show. And where else could I watch the movie if not at The El Capitan Theatre?! It was like a complete package: watching Disney's movie at Disney's theatre. And again, I was lucky that I could get a great seat in a... More

I love coming to the El Capitan Theatre to watch Disney movies! I love how the auditorium looks like, it is very elegant and it is just beautiful! I love how they do shows before the movie starts! After the movie I usually go next door to the Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Shop to get a sundae, hot chocolate or... More

El Capitan Theater is a "Movie Palace" of the 1920s which was bought by Disney and restored to its original grandeur. You can order reserved seats online (no waiting in lines to avoid being stuck with bad seats), you are greeted at the door, and there are even ushers to show you to your seats. Projection and sound systems are... More

This classic theatre is beautiful, and the Dolby Atmos sound and pre-show or special exhibits that accompany features here give seeing movies here the advantage over other places in the area. However, a recent poor guest service experience will cause me to think twice about returning and recommending this theatre. I purchased tickets in Nov 2016 for a screening of... More

We went in thinking this place is going blow us away and it did, art deco all the way. Amazing Hollywood at it's payday. Love the feel of the older theatre, and it nostalgic feel. I felt the souls in room, real Hollywood in this place. The sound was great & the screen was big. We had a lovely movie... More

Wow. What a beautiful theater! I wish all theater's looked liked this. It was a nice switch of scenery to watch a movie versus modern day movie theaters. The El Capitan is one of the last remaining movie houses in the U.S. that still shows movies. My 10 year old had a little history lesson to experience how movies used... More

Disclaimer: I do not go to the theater very often. That said, Wow! This theater blew me away. It is what a movie theater is meant to be. There was a true celebration of the film-Star Wars Rogue 1- from the moment we entered the theater to the moment we left. On display in the lobby were models of some... More

Staying in Hollywood

Neighbourhood Profile
Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
