Awesome neighborhood to explore! The lake is beautiful - short but fun walk around the whole thing. The houses on Carroll Ave are incredible. Check out the Time Travel Mart nearby on Sunset!

My fiance and I were in town for 2 nights in LA and decided to drive to the park for a late-night stroll. The park was very active with people walking their pets, jogging, and running. The park is host to a swan boat ride rental business; the boats are located in the lake and you have about an hour to ride for $10 per person. The boat ride was a fun activity and since it was night time the lights surrounding the fountain and lights from the city were visible creating a romantic picturesque ambiance.

We took a stroll around this park to look at the swan boats as they lit up for the night, and we had an enjoyable experience. The pond (lake?) itself is very pretty, with a fountain in the middle and lots of pretty plants encircling it, although I saw signs warning people not to swim in the water due to storm runoff and the possibility of bacteria. There are food vendors selling fruit drinks and other snacks, and there are bathrooms available. It's a pleasant place to stroll - just be careful with your stuff and be aware of your surroundings, like anywhere else in the city.

We went on a Saturday morning. Walked around the lake, which is about a 20 minute walk. Lots of people jogging, walking dogs. The swan paddle boats are here. It is a lovely park in the middle of the city. We found a parking spot on the street.

Overrun with homeless tents that run along the whole walking path. I see some people still walking around and doing the paddle boats but why risk going to a park where the homeless outnumber you by 10:1

This place may be the nicest place in LA at the moment because most of LA has become a 3rd world toilet. It's like visiting Biff's Pleasure Palace from back to the future 2 except dirtier and more dangerous. Imagine a homeless garbage dump littered with human waste, needles and dangerous bottom feeding humans with the backdrop of downtown LA. Don't bring your children here. It's not safe to visit and it's not worth your time. The only people that would rate this place 5 stars are the local hipsters and activists encouraging the homeless to live here and the vagrants themselves who want a cardboard box with a view to get high in.

This is an excellent place to view homeless camps and wondering souls. Dirty water with people happily fishing in it and restrooms you can smell from 20 feet away. The people with homes across the street must be overwhelmed with joy at the obvious loss of property values. 🙂

Visited back in late September as part of the #localadventurechallenge and was very shocked at the state of the area. I can tell that this may have once been a really nice neighborhood park and tourist attraction possibly - but it is definitely no longer appropriate for leisurely visits. Unfortunately the entire park is now basically just one big homeless encampment.

It was very apparent that we were not welcome and definitely should not have been walking around. I felt like I was taking pictures while walking around someone’s living room. We were stared at (really glared at actually) by the many homeless living there. We only stayed long enough to grab a few pics of the lake - less than 10 mins.

There are food stalls and paddle boats - but I just don’t see how anyone can go here for a “fun day out” while there are so many living there in poverty like that. Not to mention you have to watch where you’re walking bc of all the waste (not sure if it’s human excrement or from the water fowl that live in the lake?)...so I’d strongly suggest you plan your visit at a later date when the state of the world improves.

Beautiful park where we can enjoy nature and have a stunning view of downtown LA. You can also Enjoy the lotus flower blossom during this time of the year. Very nice walk around the lake with the fountain as foreground. Can’t ask for more than that.

It’s such a nice day to take some pictures. I wish we could have gone there during the golden hours in the evening where the sun is more beautiful for picture taking.

There were plenty of parkings around the lake when we went in the morning today. But please take the valuables with you when leave your car.

Made the trip to visit the lake after reading reviews and it being listed as a ‘must see’ in the L.A. area, unfortunately I was very disappointed. Not sure if I went on a bad day or if it’s extremely overrated?

The lake is small and surrounded by encampments of homeless people, some heckling visitors as well as a lot of small vendors selling fruit and various goods. It’s really unkempt with excess trash and belongings of the homeless scattering the park.

Parking is scarce and because of the poorly kept grounds I didn’t even bother trying to hire the overpriced swan peddle boats.

Some nice views of DTLA but I wouldn’t rate it as being one of the nicest places in LA! If you’ve got to tackle the traffic to visit the lake, or if it’s out of your way, I wouldn’t bother.
