“Really fun place”
By day a hopping Mexican restaurant, but after the dinner hour the place serves great drinks, with chips and guacamole as chasers.

This place was fun and the drinks were good, it's worth a visit if you like Mexican food and are with a few friends.

First impressions count - hostess and waitress were both among the friendliest I've ever encountered in LA. Just really fun, positive spirits. (They'd even make a bad place good, although this isn't bad at all!) Food and overall service were very good too. Standout was...More

Very dark bar offering great selection of drinks, including margaritas at a reasonable price. There is a terrace, but sadly not enough seating for the area. Overall a good, reasonable bar if you don't mind standing. We did not eat here, so cannot comment on...More

we LOVE El Chavo and will make the trip from Santa Barbara just to order the green corn tamales (they aren't on the menu, ask for them!). The ambiance is quirky and fun, the staff is nice and attentive. We saw Dolly Parton there this...More

Been going to El Chavo for 15 years. Would always rave to friends and introduce new people and out of town visitors. But the past two visits have been disappointing. Used to feel welcome, now am being rushed out to make room for the next...More

The neon colored sombreros hanging over the bar are highlights for the place, the food to die for and the Strawberry Margueritas to swim in. The crowd is handsome and always outgoing. I am taking Letty Orozco from Monterey park to visit El Chavo this...More

I think this is the best Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles, and I try to go there every time I'm in L.A. The margaritas are better than El Cholo, the hot sauce spicy and distinctive, and the service excellent. The atmosphere of black light sombreros...More

El Chavo is quickly becoming a regular spot for us. Their beef stuffed pepper is something to truly behold. Great food, service and understandably famous margaritas. You will not be sorry if you visit this great mexican restaraunt.

One bite of the delicious green corn tamales at El Chavo and you'll never even think of dining at El Cholo again. El Chavo has been around for years, as is evident from the ambience and the scores of regular customers. The help is friendly,...More
