Neighbourhood: Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.

    Beautiful
What a little gem this is, $1 each way and a souvenir ticket too!! The lady who was operating this on the evening we came across it was delightful, a wonderful personality that definitely shone. She told us a bit about the history of Angels Flight and how it had opened 100yrs ago. There is a lovely amphitheatre style area at the top which looked stunning at that time of night, lit up with fairy lights and Christmas decorations. If you're in Downtown it's worth a visit

    Fun funicular
Just $1 (pay at the station at the top) gets a quick, fun, unusual, and historic ride. Board at either end, or take a round trip. Great views, and a unique photo backdrop. Take a moment to study the interesting passing track at the halfway point.

    Fun
We were literally stuck and this funicular was the only way to reach Hill St. We paid $1 each and the ride down took about 2 minutes. Fun and the exit if’s directly across from the entrance to a food hall. Great family activity.

    Iconic
This is a short cable car ride from upper Downtown LA to across the road from Grand Central Market. Having seen it on "Bosch" it was a must do while in the area. On the down hill element we had the car to ourselves, but it ws full on the return journey. It costs $1 dollar each way and you pay when entering at the top railway. A unique and iconic local experience.

A fun five minutes for a buck!
We arrived early for our LA hotel reservation around the corner and saw this on the TA Things to Do list, so we did it! Boarded at the bottom, waited a couple minutes for the "train" to go and enjoyed the views and experience. Paid a buck each up top (exact change or plastic) and explored the area before walking back down on a nearby street.

    Worth the visit!
Really enjoyable little ride. A thrill for the kids. And the staff made it even better by being incredibly friendly, helpful and positive. Didn’t catch your name but cheers to the gentleman who was working on 18 Aug morning! Made our day :)

I read about this attraction online prior to going out to Los Angeles and it was one of those things that would be nice to do if we were in the area. We ended up going downtown to check out the Grand Central Market and happened to notice this across the street. It's only a dollar per ride and if you don't want to take it both up and down then there is also a set of stairs. This has a very interesting history and I recommend you read about it so you understand why this railway is where it is and for what reason. The ride takes about two minutes if that but it's definitely worth the dollar. This is a must do if you are downtown.

This is a fun little adventure and I suggest doing it on a weekend afternoon. You take a small trolley up the equivalent of three flights of stairs. Sure you could walk it, but the whole adventure is to get out and try something new. It cost $1 payable in cash and you pay when you arrive at the top. If you want to go down you pay another $1. When you get up, there is a nice view and you can walk around and see some of the prime office buildings. Across the street is Grand Central market, a ton of restaurants from almost any country. Whether you want a sandwich, sushi, Italian, burgers, Thai tea, bobas or deserts, they have it all and the prices are very reasonable. (Under $14 for great meal and under $10 for most other foods). This is a great afternoon trip. Start off for lunch at Grand Central market and then walk across the street and take the trolley to the top. Then walk around. There are many places to park. I would suggest you look for a paid parking lot. You can find some for $6 after 4 o’clock or $10 all day on a Saturday. There are some meters there for two hours but I wouldn’t suggest parking in the meter because you’ll be there longer than two hours. There are also many bus stops and it’s close to public transportation. Enjoy - Alexander Bordbar

When I grew up we called trains like this a funicular (which are designed to ascend steep inclines. In Valparaiso Chile, they call these elevators and were used a lot in the old days to transport the workers up the steep slopes of the city. Here in LA, the funicular allowed the wealthy to avoid taking stairs up or down the steep hill many of them had houses. The Grand Central Market was deliberately placed at the bottom of the hill so it could be accessed by these same wealthy folks. As rides go it is short and not particularly thrilling, but it is history and the hill (at least going up) is steep so provides a cheap alternative to walking.

It’s a historical landmark that loses a bit after its 100 year existence. The ride is short, but the cost invites one to take the round trip up/down the hill ($2 round trip or $1 if using Metro card). Kids would like it and the entire experience can be completed in probably 30 minutes. It’s convenient as the metro stop (red/purple) is right across the street on the corner.

Angels Flight is a very short but useful railroad traveling up a steep hillside in downtown Los Angeles. The view from the top is great, and it's actually quite a convenience for getting up or down the hill. It costs a dollar unless you have a transit card known as a TAP card, in which case it's a whole 50 cents. Bargain!

Angles Flight has great historical value and we get to live that today! If you took Metrolink trains to L.A. you can get a half price ticket on Angels Flight simply by showing your ticket. The best time to do this is in the evening. There will be few people and it's lit up so that it's like walking into an old fashioned dream as you step into the car.

The fare for Angel's Flight is only $1, $2 for a round trip ticket. Keep in mind that it's a low cost ride, the people who run Angels flight would like to see low denominations of $1 $5 or even $10 bills as $20 Bills drain their available change. Plan on the $1 bills first to keep them happy.

I plan to ride Angel Flight both ways, but when I got there, no attendance, It's around 7:50 AM. Hang around the upper station for 10 minutes no one showed up. Tired of waiting and not knowing if anyone will ever comes back. I decided to walked around toward the Music Center, etc. and made a big loop back to the bottom station. From the bottom station you can enter the train, so I went in, took photos' sat on the upper seat so if there's an attendance up there they can see me sitting there and wanted a ride. So glad a few minutes later the bell rang the lights came on and off I go. I enjoyed the ride, I wish someone was on the upper station when I arrived so I could ride both ways. Can the attendance leave a note for the customer when he/she would be back so I know how long to wait? My car was park on a meter parking, not enough time to go down and back up again. Maybe next time.

If you enjoy rail journeys, this is a must. It is the shortest trip in the world, being 298 feet in its entirety. The funicular takes you from South Hill up to South Olive and for $2 fare, you get a souvenir ticket. Even my bride, a longtime sufferer of my train travels, was impressed. If you time it right, getting the rear seats provides for great photo opportunities. Treat yourself!!
