Surprised this place doesn't have more reviews. I spent an extended weekend for my first time in LA and hiking Runyon Canyon was one of the main things I wanted to do because I heard a lot about it from all types of people who...More

I visited during midday and it was boiling. Great weather (as usual) and there's opportunity to view whole of LA and surrounds plus also vantage point for LA on the north side. There's a marathon track for 'casuals' and a steeper rockier climb for the...More

This hike is crowded and a bit overrun/run down compared to some of the other canyons in Malibu and Santa Monica. But, its a hike, great views, close up of the Hollywood sign and a nice oasis in the middle of a gritty part of...More

It’s a gem and it’s free! Skip the tour bus. You don’t have to have fancy hiking gear... just a good pair of sneakers and take your time coming down (especially with kids). Spectacular views of LA!

In particular, beware the female Australian dog-walker who has 10 dogs, most of them off leash even in the mandatory on-leash areas. I saw her coming with her unruly pack, and pulled my dog, who was on a leash, off the path and made him...More

Go to the top entrance of Runyon Canyon and you can walk down the paved road to the view. Will take about 30 minutes to get to the view. There are a a couple of benches on the way down or up to rest.
