Top ways to experience Hollywood Walk of Fame
The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.

- Richard SDerby, United Kingdom18 contributionsFound the nice bit..We walked the whole length of Walk of fame. It was interesting to see the stars but I was expecting them to be in a nice area. It’s grotty, seedy and unpleasant for most of it. Lots of vape shops and street sellers - it was rough. But then we got to the centre, with Dolby (Oscars) theatre and the Hard Rock Cafe and it was nice around there so I recommend going to this block and not venturing too far beyond it. Hard Rick cafe was great 👍Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 4 November 2023
- Nana B4 contributionsHard to put into words. But I gave it a goBeing from the East End of London, the Walk of Fame, served me with nostalgic aesthetics and aromas, I know only too well. The poignant smell of urine, brought back happy childhood flashbacks of walking through Barking high street as a teenager. Hurdling over the grit, grime and garbage on the floors, took me back to my energetic walks to my old office in Shoreditch. If you’re feeling down and want to be appreciative of life, head down to the Walk of Fame. It will give you a new perspective on what it is to be grateful, and appreciative that you don’t live there. In all, 10/10 experience. Would strongly recommend for corporate companies as a team building exercise, or new parents, as a way to teach young children about engaging the five senses. Small improvement suggestion, would be less crackheads.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 29 November 2023
- rmartinmitchBoston, Massachusetts637 contributionsYes, It's CrazyWe had a chance to visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame during our recent visit to LA. Yes, it is crazy. Also kind of interesting. Like us, you'll probably want to look around and then get out of there. Grauman's Chinese Theatre has some interesting signatures.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 January 2024
- ccarlson2022Niles, Michigan209 contributionsA bit run downStopped with my 17 year old daughter around 10am on New Year’s Eve. We parked in the corner of Wilcox and Hollywood. Lots of homeless and trash in the area. Maybe a different part is much better. We hoped out took a few photos and went into a gift shop close to Wilcox and headed out. Didn’t feel safe at all for being daylight. No other tourists just homeless wandering.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 21 January 2024
- Gyorgy BDebrecen, Hungary10 contributionsIt wasn't as good as I expected but it was good to visit to satisfy the childhood dream of mineIt was a dream come true to visit this place, but because of the negligence from the maintenance community, it's not in good shape. Beware of the cosplayers who may charge you money for taking a photo with them. The area could use a bit of cleaning up as some of the stars were covered in dirt. The area also has stalls which cover most of the stars. Daytime can get crowded because of other tourists visiting this place.Visited May 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 12 March 2024
- Jason H3 contributionsDisappointed!I hate to post this review but it just didn't feel safe down there. Lots of aggressive homeless folks and we even saw a small group smoking something on the side of the road that was clearly not cigarettes. We did our best to just pay attention to the stars but honestly it just didn't feel safe.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 31 March 2024
- one team BCFC xWeston super Mare, United Kingdom64 contributionsAverageI read an article on LA and in summary the guy wrote and I quote “ the only thing your find out about LA is that when you come away, your realise just how glad you are, that you don’t live there’ and I kinda have to agree. It’s so made up of those that have and those that have not” The walk of fame is really good fun and if you do walk it, it will take you about 3-4 hours as you keep stopping and pointing out stars that you recognise and stop to take pictures. Like everywhere else in an American tourist trap you will In counter countless people trying to sell you stuff. A stiff “ no thank-you” usually works but some still do persists 😞 My advice is to stay in the tourist areas don’t venture any further as you will see and experience a different side of LA your probably not goons like. Without sounding disrespectful we were sat in Macdonalds the place was filled with homeless people many with severe mental health problems. One guy was sat with his hands down his pants it look like he was…well you know what I mean. Most people moved away from him and so did we, only to be looking out the window at some bare footed guy going through the trash can Next to the Hollywood stars on the street. We took the hop on hop of bus which was pretty average and decided to get off a couple of stops before the end, big mistake once again found ourselves in what I would describe as “bandit country”. Not that enjoyable overall but stay on the right paths!Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 April 2024
- 303racoon50Coventry, United Kingdom107 contributionsSad to see it's so dirtyI m usually pretty upbeat but this was quite disappointing. The streets are not cleaned and some of the stars are pretty dirty. Relying on the rain isn't working. The Walk of Fame becomes less and less appealing the further you go up Hollywood Boulevard and although we wanted to see Capitol Records and the Beatles Stars we weren't sure how safe the area actually was. Lots of homeless and mentally ill people wandering about. However we were lucky enough to see a Star being unveiled for Lang Lang and so that was very special. I guess that's a fairly rare event however. The Chinese Theatre with the signatures and hand/footprints is worth taking time to explore.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 17 April 2024
- CharlotteKatoomba, Australia32 contributionsEye-openingDefinitely nothing like I expected, the area overall is dirty and there are many homeless people about. However, the main thing to be aware of is the street scammers, particularly the guys who pretend to be rappers, hand out fake CD’s and then take photos with you and force you to make a ‘donation’ to support their fake music. We ended up being fooled, coming from the other side of the world, and paid them $30. Another concerning part of our trip was when we were catching the bus into Hollywood and a homeless man ran onto the road and stood in front of the bus even though the light had turned green. 911 had to be called. These are the things that will happen, but I took it as an eye-opening experience to see the lives of these people and get a taste of a lifestyle different to mine. I don’t personally think it’s a bad experience, it might take a bit to get used to it but overall I’m glad I got to see it and get a taste of the real LA. However, if you are on a short time-span or are looking for a glamorous tourist attraction then this is not the place for you. Wouldn’t go back again but it was interesting to spend a couple of days here.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 18 April 2024
- 3000caloriesBuffalo, New York1,667 contributionsJust come for a quick photo and leaveWas staying around the corner so figured I’d check it out. This was a Sunday afternoon and it was crowded, mostly because the wide sidewalk is taken up by street vendors. Most of the street vendors are selling Mexican snack food. But it was a windy day and some of their umbrellas would fall and I was worried someone would get hurt. There was also a CD selling guy and a 3 card monte scam artist (do people really still fall for that?). There are also people hawking “Hollywood tours” and people in costumes who will take a photo of you for a few. Overall it is not pleasant here but you can see the stars in the sidewalk and check that off your list.Visited May 2024Travelled soloWritten 6 May 2024

The stars run up and down Hollywood Boulavrd for blocks and blocks so wear some good walking shoes. There are people and characters everywhere, which if you're a people watcher like me it is always enjoyable. BE WARNED: if you take photos with the people dressed up you are expected to tip, this is what they do for a living! Also stopped at a Mexican Bar called Te'Kila, which served huge margaritas and had delicious Mexican street cuisine for a reasonable price.

We visited on an evening, shortly after sunset. I was worried that it might be too dark, but there was plenty of lighting around. There's currently some construction nearby, but we were able to walk along and see many of the stars in the sidewalk, plus spend time near the Chinese theater. The sidewalk areas in front have fun signatures and foot/hand prints from various stars. Overall this was a fun stop for about 15 minutes to see the stars. On this evening in February, it wasn't overly crowded. There were plenty of people around, but we weren't shoulder to shoulder and at times could take photos of multiple stars together without other people in the photo.

February 14, 2020 I took my nephew and niece to see the world’s most famous sidewalk boasts 2,500 stars and counting. Hollywood Walk of Fame is practically a rite of passage—and it’s also one of the city’s most beloved free attractions.
Honoring luminaries in motion pictures, television, radio, live theatre, and recording since 1960, the famous sidewalk includes both sides of Hollywood Boulevard from Gower to La Brea, plus both sides of Vine Street from Yucca to Sunset. While you’re there, you’re a short walk from such big Hollywood Boulevard attractions as Chinese Theatre, El Capitan Theatre, and Madame Tussauds Hollywood.Be aware of your surroundings because there are a lot of homeless people harassing others for money or even worst you see characters in costumes trying to get you to take pictures with them and then they will harras you for money as well. So just say no and save yourself the trouble. There are plenty of restaurants on the Hollywood blvd and they are all pretty good.
On Hollywood Blvd and N Highland Ave, there's Huge garage parking underneath Loews Hotel and Dolby theater building. The entrance of parking is on N highland Ave. I usually pay under $10 for two hours parking.

I was minding my business and looking for the star of certain celebrities. Then I was stopped by a person who literally handed me his CD and said he was an upcoming artist and signed the envelope to my name. I thought he was promoting his music and asking me to check it out, but it turned out that he expected to get monetary support. He said he usually gets $20 usd. I was coerced into giving $10 usd for his CD. Then his friend came at me and shoved his CD into my hand, and said I supported his first friend so I needed to support him too. He wouldn’t take back his CD and once again I was coerced into giving $10 usd. A third friend of theirs came towards me and I quickly walked away before he came close enough to shove a CD at me. Beware of soliciting! Do not stop walking. Do not make eye contact. Do not give money.

The Walk of Fame is over a number of blocks in Hollywood. The streets are quite dirty. I really enjoyed looking at the stars hand prints, quotes and dates close to The Theatre. Closer to Madam Tussauds, Chinese Theatre and Dolby Theatre, it was difficult to see or even take pictures of some stars because of the crowds of people walking around there. It was however exciting to come across the names of stars you like.

Came here while at a conference to see the walk of fame. While it was nice to see, the amount of soliciting put a huge damper on the experience. People in costumes that look like they have never been washed (spider-man, mickey mouse, etc.) trying to get you to take a photo with them so they can then make you give them money for the photo. Others trying to force their CD into your (music comedy, etc.), to then expect you to pay them for it. Personal space in non-existent in this area and I felt the need to sanitize my hands constantly. Wish it had been a better experience, but I will definitely not be going back.

If you are new to Hollywood and want to see a tourist trap, this is the place to be. I walked the whole length of the Walk of Fame with my family, and we witnessed a run down location that is in serious need of gentrificaion. It needs to be reimaged from the ground up by the town council and soon. The walk itself is overcrowded with tourists. The stars are wearing down and some have cracks going through them. While they have put some stars at the far reaches of the walk (a lot of older ones) many are blank. Near the center of the activity where it is overcrowded there are more recent stars placed nearly on top of each other.
The Chinese theatre is interesting and some of the signatures in the cement are fascinating of casts of the 1960s (for example, the original Star Trek actors many of which now have passed away). A few minutes at this location is all you need but is worth the effort.
The biggest problem now is the number of vagrants we saw on the walk. There is no way around it, this place is getting seedy and at night I would be concerned being out in this area. We thought about going into a wax museum (there are two) but decided against it as the cost for four would be well over $100 which seemed to be a lot considering the condition of the buildings.
Is it worth the time? Probably but only during the daytime. We had more fun on the WB studio tour we went on which actually taught us about its history than this walk did. The mall at the end of the stars is actually half vacant but there are some good stores in there but we were there to eat Ben and Jerry's and the California Pizza Kitchen.

Walking down Hollywood Boulevard Can be pretty crazy. You do have to be careful because there are some homeless people that unfortunately are high on drugs or have a mental challenges so beware. But it still is a lot of fun to put your hands in the hand prints of the famous stars at the Chinese theater. Try to take a show in at the Pantages it’s a beautiful place to go inside to see a play. The wax museum is a lot of fun and so is the Guinness book of records museum. It’s fun to walk down and see all of the stars on the sidewalks.

It's hollywood mates. The hall of fame. It's a round long walk where you can all the Top icons Fame comprises more than 2,690 five-pointed terrazzo and brass stars embedded in the sidewalks along 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and three blocks of Vine Street in Hollywood.
Muhammad Ali was given a star when it was determined that boxing was indeed a form of live performance
The handsome terrazzo-and-brass stars are one to witness. You can meet all the super stars and characters, they charge for tips. Wonderful experience if you are in Los Angeles. Don't forger the dance music which takes place every hour.

It’s a nice in a lifetime experience to stroll down the sidewalk looking at the Stars. You do kind of have to brace yourself for “look-a-like” Power Girl, Batman and other character actors who eke out a living getting photos made with tourists. Of course I didn’t mind a bit coughing up 5bucks to have a snap of me cuddling up wit Poer Girl. lol

Пользовался Uber очень удобно и не дорого. По времени займет минут 40-60 всё зависит от трафика, по цене 35-50 долларов. Метро в LA очень удобное но в аэро порт не идет.

Is it just me or was the vibe different 10-15 yrs ago on the walk of fame? I recently went (April 2019) and most of the stretch consisted of smoke shops, bargain vendors, homeless folks, and druggies. Occasionally we spotted a hip coffee shop or restaurant. Even in front of Jimmy Kimmel, it seemed a tad sketch.

How have you planned your visit to the Walk of Fame? Did you just do it on your own, or was it part of a tour package? If a tour, which tour package is the best and why? Thanks!
Written 17 December 2018
My husband and I did it on our own however about every 20 feet we where harassed by seemingly unlicensed vendors to go on a tour.. If not tour vendors people pushing cd’s or in cheap costumes conjoling a picture then demanding money. Some of the vendors where downright hostile. None of it seems legitimate and I wouldn’t recommend any of them! The “walk” is pretty easy, we weren’t looking for any stars in particular but if one was wanting that a map for that purpose it would be sufficient. The only place to visit and get a tour in my opinion would be the Chinese theatre.. Sadly most of the area/walk is in disrepair, dirty and blighted.. In St.Louis where I’m from we have our own version with celebrities that where born, raised, or lived in our city.. The delmar loop isn’t near as famous but is much more of a pleasant experience than Hollywood.. We visited several other places in the LA area that where much better.. Santa Monica is wonderful, Beverly Hills just to gawk at the beautiful homes, The Petersen automotive museum (even if you’re not a car geek) and the beaches are just amazing.. That’s just scratching the surface! Hope that helps :)

We found parking easy. There was a paid car park one block over, but we parked across the road from the car park for free and walked through the car park. There was no sign and no parking meters so we gave it a go and was there for about two hours, no ticket . We got there about 5:45pm so that might have had some thing to do with finding a park.
Hope this helps

We were little bit disappointed because it looks more luxury in American movies. Everyone should visit this place but do not spend so much time. Many homeless and drug users on the street. No public rest room and you are not allow to use wc in the restaurants.
Written 5 September 2018
You should know that movies are made by rich people who lives in fairy tale. They don't know or care about about reality. But I need to tell you that poverty in California have been increased largely on the past 6 years. Before 2013 you wouldn't see that many of homeless and drug addict people. And the housing been in insane in CA is making the tent-dwelling proliferate as virus.
