We tried this winery as part of a group tour (Captain Jack's Wine Tours) and the wine was good and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. This is pinot noir country so you'll try a lot of pinot noir. Some great tasting options.

If you don't have time to see Napa Valley, I highly recommend taking a 16 minute (drive) detour off of Hwy 1 to see Melville Winery. Although, admittedly, we are not wine drinkers, the beauty of this winery is stunning and very picturesque. They do...More

If you love Pinot Noir, then this is the winery for you. They usually have 3-4 pinot noirs on their tasting menu, and all are unique and delicious. My favorites (today) are the Sandy's and the Block M. If you get lucky, they might even...More

These are some of the best Pinot Noir wines we have experienced. There are versions that express the variations of terroir, analogous to Burgundy but with local style.

Our party of 3 stopped at Melville Winery and had a wonderful tasting experience. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the wines were excellent, so, of course, we had to purchase a couple of bottles to enjoy back at our hotel in Lompoc. The...More

Melville is a must while wine tasting in Lompoc and/or Buellton. Their Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays (stainless steel varietal) are some of the best in the region. Call me romantic, but I love the how their wine bottles are sealed in wax. The vineyard itself...More

Had a great experience - very informative and genuine knowledge about the winery history and interesting geographical facts. Not a high pressure sales person but someone who wanted to give us a great experience in the winery

We had a lovely tasting on a Saturday. The Pinot Noirs are well made and balanced, they are not heavy in mouthfeel like other California AVA's offer. Expect a $15 tasting fee which may be waived with the purchase of wine. The staff is very...More
