Description:

Clos Pepe offers private tours and tastings to the discriminating wine...

Clos Pepe offers private tours and tastings to the discriminating wine tourist. If you are just learning wine, or are half-interested, please do not request a tour. This is a tour for the initiated wine geek that is ready to plumb the history and depth of what wine is, was, and will be.This is a two hour experience. An hour walking in the vineyard and an hour in a private home tasting wine. This is NOT a tasting room. This is a chance to make an appointment and attend a small, private gathering to learn, taste and buy wine. It is meant for collectors, afficianados, and those that are highly passionate about all things fermented.Absolutely no kids or animals on the property. All tours start at 10:30 am, no exceptions.

Clos Pepe and their wine maker and champion for the area Wes Hagen, has moved on. This is because it became time for the owners of the property (for many years) to step down from the business side of wine and lease out the vineyards. I must say that it was due to Wes's enthusiasm and their incredible Pinot Noir's... More

First thing to know is that you need to make a reservation, can't just drop in. Half of the experience is the walk through part of the vineyards; our guide was Andrew, incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Then you get taken into the elegant main house - it's an actual residence, and a gorgeous one at that - and you're seated... More

We recently visited Clos Pepe with our wine group and were treated to a fascinating lecture by Andrew on the history of wine and the Santa Ynez Valley wine making region. This was only exceeded by the quality of the wine tasting, which was also outstanding. This winery won't be around for much longer due to changes in management of... More

I have been to many wineries throughout the US and Europe and this one ranks up there among the very best. Wes does a fantastic job of wine education, explaining many aspects of viticulture in a very easy to understand fashion and reinforcing the fact that great wines are made in the vineyard. The tasting in the Pepe's private home... More

Wes Hagen is a very knowledgable and likeable winemaker. He offers a gem of an experience sharing his knowledge of wines and offering a great insight into Pinot Noire and Chardonnay wines. Because only small groups are accepted and you must make a reservation it is an intimate exchange of views and questions are answered honestly and informatively with a... More

My wife and I were on vacation, with the continued mission of broadening our wine palates. This is year three of us visiting the Lompoc, Santa Ynez, Santa Rita Hills wine regions. My family and I own a hotel in Alexander Valley, and these regions remind us of home. The people are friendly, the regions are spread out and the... More

About an hour north of Santa Barbara in the Santa Rita hills you'll find an oenological treasure. On the recommendation of a fellow member of the Chaine des Rotisseurs, we sought out the winery. They are very restricted on when they have tours and there's a good reason for it: It's not a Disneyland type of winery where people who... More

My husband and I enjoy wine tasting. He was staying in the area for business and we were looking for weekend activities. We chose this tour because of the great trip advisor reviews and were not disappointed! The tour of the property and vineyard was very informative. Being part of a small group everyone was able to ask questions and... More

On the recommendation of a friend, we recently set up a private tour at Clos Pepe Vineyards in Lompoc. There were just 4 people in our group, so the tour was intimate and very informative. Andrew, our tour guide for the day, loves his involvement with wines and it shows in all he does. You could feel his passion and... More

I am a winegrower and winemaker and have been interested in wine for over 30 years. I have been to wineries all over the U.S. as well as other countries. This the most educational, enlightening and enjoyable wine experiences ever! History, geology, comedy, literature and wine making all in one non-snobbish wine tour. Even if you are not into wine...
