We stopped here to break our journey from Paso Robles to L.A I found the history quite interesting and the set-up of displays very nice. Small, so didn't take long to walk through.

We went to Fort Tejon State Historic Park. It is located along the Grapeline region and is reachable using highway 5. The fort was active from 1854 to 1864. The fort was used to protect those who were living on the Sebastian Indian Reservation,

Driving up the grapevine pass is a state park sign for Fort Tejon. Ya gotta stop and see this fort...Besides, it's a good break from driving. The fort was built as part of the gold rush and putting the native-indigenous peoples (Indians) on reservations The coolest part is the flag with only ----stars reflecting when the fort was buil and... I stopped here on a recent drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles to walk my dog. The entry fee is $3.00/per person. It's a quick and easy to get off and back on the freeway. There is a small museum and some army buildings and you can walk around the grounds. Beware if you have dogs as the grounds... More

Walk up to a small little building with nothing but some posters. then they want you to pay if you walk past this area where there is a building some more posters, the place is a joke.

Right along Freeway 5 in the town of Lebec is this great Fort. They have periodically "Frontier Days" in which volunteers are on hand to show you how life was lived back then. There is a small museum as you first enter with the background history. They have a blacksmith shop where they show you how they made the different... More

Right next to interstate 5 at exit 210, this picturesque park is the site of Fort Tejon, a US Army post which was located there from 1854 to 1864. A small museum has educational exhibits, and a 1/2 mile trail leads you through some restored buildings. The trail is hard-packed dirt and sand, suitable for wheelchairs or strollers. You can... Near the Tejon pass on Highway 5, a good place to stop and stretch your legs if you are traveling a long distance. This is also near the site of the 1856 Fort Tejon earthquake which moved the western half of the Pacific tectonic plate 30 feet north.
