My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Caverns--from the boat ride over, to the bus ride up the mountain with fantastic views of the lake, to the guided tour of the caverns. Our guide was a young man named Byron who was...More

Our family with 2 small children age 4and 5 just did this guided tour and it was wonderful! We were a bit nervous how the little ones will react to a lot of stair climbing, dark enclosed places but they were very amazed once inside...More

The guide was very informative especially about how the caves where found. The display of what time has created is amazing. The caves need to be accesses by a boat ride across Shasta lake which in itself is nice. There are many stairs in this...More

This was hands down the best experience we had while vacationing in the Mt Shasta area. We had the benefit of glorious weather. The lake and surrounding landscape are beautiful. The caverns are magnificent and worth the climb up and down the stairs to see...More

I asked and there are 612 steps going up and down roundtrip. Cave is nice, but tour is not well organized. It is a self guided tour with docents at major exihibits. Good info on how it was discovered and about the formations. Most of...More

I'm rather fond of caves and this one is really pretty nice. It's a fairly vertical cave with lots of steps, but its well done. Total time to allow is about 3 hours with the boat ride, the cave trip, and the shuttle up/down the...More

This was my first time through the Caverns. It was for a 6 year olds birthday, he was so excited about the caves and formations inside he ran up all the stairs. It was a day we all enjoyed and will treasure. The views inside...More

This attraction is not a long drive up from Redding. And the scenic view from hwy 5 to get there, are prettier the closer you get to the caverns. It is well marked of where to exit to get to the caverns, and then you...More

If you find O'Brien Rd., north of Shasta Lake and out of I-5, you will soon park your car and check the souvenir store, go down the stairs to the lake, where a boat will take on the other side of the lake, where a...More

When we came here, it was pouring rain. We were glad we didn't change our plan. We took the boat in a rainy and foggy day. That's quite a experience so beautiful too. The cavern is another unique scene. It's so beautiful and amazing. We...More

I'm sorry I don't know? I didn't see any dogs in my group or the one previous my group. I didn't notice any signs either. But because you are not allowed to touch most of the formations because you can damage I wouldn't... More

Hi. The vehicle is actually a school bus of sorts. I think you won't be able to strap on your car seat in any case.

If I bring my own boat I know there is a place to land and tie down. My question is whether I get any kind of discount for taking my own boat or is it the same price regardless?

I highly doubt it. The price includes the boat ride there and back, the bus ride to the top of the caverns and then back down and the tour itself. I did not see any variances to the posted prices except for age. I did see a... More
