I stayed two nights in the month of May and four nights in February this year at Chenrezig. I found the shared dormitory to be basic, but homey and quite affordable (similar In price to a four and a half star caravan park I stayed up North in Cairns), that is $27 per night. I had the five bed dormitory... More

Hum... not sure where to start with this place. It's in beautiful settings, very rustic & basic, some might find it charming. Unfortunately the staff at the cafe was not very friendly and very up themselves, and coffee wasn't good at all.

Based on a recommendation from my partner's workmate we decided to make an impromptu visit to the Big Love Cafe for lunch. We only phoned about an hour before lunch service but fortunately there were spaces still available. Not knowing the exact location, we punched in the address on Google maps and let that guide us to our destination. As... More

We recently called in on a Sunday morning for coffee. It's an unusual place that is well off the beaten track so you'd sort of expect that they'd really give you a warm welcome. I wouldn't rate it as luke warm. They were not busy with one other table of five that had already been served their coffee. The staff... More

This is a Tibetan Buddhist facility - Nearby to Eodlo and a little hard to find without a GPS but their website has directions – visit in the morning for a really good strong coffee before taking a walk around the complex – the Garden of Enlightenment is a beautiful special feature and after this make your way via the... We went to Chenrezig Institute to have a look around as it was a first time visit for myself and my boyfriend. We were pleasantly surprised with the landscapes and surrounds but were most impressed with the meal. We were served a variety of curries and a small salad, it was delicious. It's often hard to get decent vegetarian food... More

Where do I start with this magical place? I have been coming here for 13 years now and first stayed as a live in volunteer for 3 months in 2016. Even after all that time not a lot has changed (which is a really good thing) though the wonderful Garden of Englighenment has since been completed. There are not many... More

The Big Love Cafe has the best vegetarian food I have had. I was here for 10 days and ate at the cafe at lunch time for 7 days. There was something different every day and as I am new to Vegetarianism it was wonderful. The different gluten free cakes every day were delicious as is their coffee... latte cappuccino... More

Chenrezig is my sanctuary when I need to retreat and recharge. I've stayed here many times and appreciate the simple but adequate rooms, the sense of peace, and that I can elect to integrate into the community as much or as little as I want. I enjoy the food and chai tea at the cafe and going for strolls down... More
