The tour made it all the more impressive because of the explanation by Lynda Forsha, a well known contemporary art expert. The beautiful colors, the thoughtful images, the SIZE!! A wonderful experience with friends or solo. The tour also gives you a chance to get to know the downtown Village of La Jolla.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 28 September 2023

- Leslie DCharlotte, North Carolina7 contributionsLa Jolla Family DayThe views were breathtaking. We took a ton of pictures. We were going to visit Dave’s gift shop for the sea cave but the line was long and moved slowly. We opted to just walk out into the cliff for free. There is a lot of walking and a lot of it are hills. Plenty of high end shopping and food places to eat. Would definitely go back for another visit.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 8 July 2024

On our very first visit to La Jolla, we were fortunate to come across this wonderful tour. Amongst La Jolla's natural beauty, it's a unique look behind the scenes at one of the special delights created by the people here.
As you walk around the village, you will enjoy these distinctive and diverse works of art popping out at you from building walls and hidden corners. This tour gives you a look behind the scenes at the who-how-why of a variety of the murals, the artists and the process involved in choosing, designing and assembling them.
Lynda also has a few great stories about taking them down...every mural has its own 'best by' date and all are intentionally temporary works so that the walk is fresh each year. Now that we return to La Jolla annually, we invite friends to join us in this great experience.

Great casual way to get some light exercise while seeing and learning about the village of La Jolla while viewing curated outdoor art. While on this tour we also discovered a place for a bite and a glass of wine – and watched a beautiful La Jolla sunset.
I recommend it!

Such a wonderful tour of local spots with amazing detail of public art displays. The guided tours give the murals so much more depth and background. Since this experience I find myself appreciating the local art so much more. I highly recommend taking a tour yourself!!

The Athaneum's "Murals of La Jolla" guided tour is a real gem! Strolling the streets of La Jolla to see some of the murals and learn about the artists and their concepts as well as the production techniques and installation challenges was absolutely fascinating. This incredible public art project is on a grand scale - there are far more murals than I realized and every year some are retired and new ones replace them. I plan to build upon my guided tour experience with another walkabout to see the rest of the murals, using the digital map and self-guided tour. Don't miss this!

These murals are some of the best public art I’ve seen! Diverse, professional and intriguing. Such fun to walk the quaint streets of La Jolla and find great art around every bend. I chose the guided tour and loved learning about each artist’s mural. You can also obtain a map for a self guided tour. Either way, it’s a splendid no-cost art adventure!

The Murals of La Jolla tour is fascinating! While beaches are often the main attraction in this unique village, this free guided walking tour takes you somewhat off the beaten path to view walls that have been beautified by artists from around the world. The artwork is fun and creative as well as thought provoking. It's a must see!

There are only a few worth wasting gas on in my opinion. By georges, you can see from coast.

The next time you are in San Diego, do not miss the La Jolla Mural Tour. You do not have to be an art enthusiast to appreciate the wonderful effect this art has on the downtown area. In fact, you will probably become an art "fan" after you take the tour. I am going back to San Diego later this month, and the Tour is on the top of my "to do" list.
