After walking along the La Jolla shore, we then walked up the hill to the downtown area. This is a very nice, clean, and safe downtown area with lots of shopping opportunities and restaurants. It was a great place to walk around, poke in a...More

While the shopping is,limited in this area of CA I don't think one especially goes to La Jolla to shop. There is a Gap, Banana Republic, Lululemon, Kate Spade, and Sunglasses Hut. OUr favorite two stores were Warwicks and Geppettos. Warwicks is a good book...More

We wound up above the cove walking in the village after touring the waterfront. Many exclusive shops and eateries. We really enjoyed lunch at the well established quaint bakery and deli Girard's (see write up) that had the best home cooked food we had so...More

In that order. After watching the sunset and getting your fill of smelling sea lions, it's time to enjoy the neighborhood. Choose from many restaurants to please your pallet, but don't eat dessert quite yet. Stroll through some galleries after dinner (NatGeo my favorite), and...More

Nice little place to stroll and window shop after eating lunch. Random specialty shops and locally owned boutiques. Nice walking area.

The shopping on Gerard and Prospect is spread out between restaurants, vacant spaces, banks, and offices. It really isn't the type of street that you can just start at one end and window shop until the end of the block. However, there are a handful...More

Strolled the streets and enjoyed the unique smattering of shops. Liked that there weren't too many chain stores. There is something for everyone in the area including some great furniture/design stores, a florist, and delightful book shop.

Fun, beautiful and did I say fun? Shopping with that kind of view doesn't happen. Try the excellent restaurants for lunch or dinner. Go as a couple, meet friends or go with the family. Just go! And enjoy!

Stayed overnight at a hotel nearby. This area is full of upscale shops, chains and boutiques. Plenty of restaurants/bars, a few with views of the coastline nearby. This whole area is on a slope, so walking north/south not as tiring as east/west. Plenty to see...More

Inn by the Sea at La Jolla is the one that is closest to the beach around this area. They were renovating in March. Not really sure how it is though as we stayed at Grand Colonial Hotel which is a little up the hill from the... More
