Girard and Prospct streets run perpendicular to each other and are the center of the shopping area of La Jolla. The shops, galleries and restaurants are not huge, but small and inviting for the most part. Whether you are in a purchasing mood or just want to stroll and look, you can spend a pleasant, relaxed time here.

Long ago this area rivaled Newport Beach, Beverly Hills and other cool spots for shopping and dining. Now the area is getting rundown with plenty of "for lease" and "going out of business" signs in windows. Other than a Lululemon store, there isn't much shopping here. No movie theaters or fun activities. Restaurants are OK. Certainly not worth a drive... More

1. parking; two-hour spaces on the street; $5 garage on Herschel Avenue. 2. stores: something for every taste and wallet. Don't miss Warwick's -- one of the best gift selections around and the oldest family-owned bookstore in the COUNTRY. 3. food: again, something for everyone -- chain and independent businesses.

This is so fun to walk around and browse the shops no matter what time of the day it is. Parking can be a pain on weekends but pay-and-parks aren't too expensive.

We love our daily walks down Girard Avenue and Prospect Street when we are visiting La Jolla. There are many shops that have been here for ages, but also some new trendy ones. Lots of active wear shops to choose from. One of our favorites is Warwicks bookstore. It is wonderful!

This is a nice place to spend a few hours in window shopping and buying unique things, but there are also some chain stores here. Nice architecture, lots of beautiful older hotel buildings.

Stayed 2 days in the heart of La Jolla. Great places to eat. Loved the Underwater Park with all the seals. Kayaking was the best!

Very nice shops and restaurants. It's best to walk from your hotel as parking is limited and the area can be quite busy with tourists.

My family walked along Prospect Street after viewing the La Jolla Cove area. There are lots of small shops, various eateries and ice cream shops. There are also some high end stores (e.g., Kate Spade) in the area. Sort of reminded me of a mini Rodeo Drive. Not all that special, but might be a good thing to checkout after... More
