It was supposed to be a children's pool, but the harbor seals took over and it's a main tourist and local attraction. Great picture spot.

Well the Children's Pool is not for children at all. Unless them looking at the sea lions counts. The sea lions took over years ago and they have never left. It good for a stop to view the sea lions while doing the coastal walk. If you can stand the smell walk out on the jetty for a closer view.

I love watching the seals play and sleep. They are so cute! This area does tend to get stinky though, so fair warning. Nice way to spend a couple hours with a wonderful view and wildlife.

Carved out of small cliffs, many seals like to rest and play here. Reasonably walkable and you get safely close to the animals. Free attraction but the parking can get sketchy.

It should not be called the childrens pool for any reason. I would never let my children anywhere near there. The smell of Sea lions defecating is horrendous. Do yourself a favor and visit Sea World instead, Birch Aquarium, or visit other parts of La Jolla Beach.

This used to be a place for kids to swim in a protected environment. There is a semi circle of jetty that protects the little cove. It has become over run by seals and now it is not only illegal to swim there but the fecal bacteria counts are off the charts. While seals are fun to see, they increase... More

We knew the children's pool was closed because of seals before we went there. We watched the seals played in the water and lay down on beaches so close. That was fun to see wild animals so close by. It is very good that people and animals share the coast. The shore line is very interesting and different from the... More

This was donated to be a children's pool in La Jolla, but has been invaded by seals and has become a ghastly smelling place. I guess there are those who enjoy seeing the seals, and animal activists have promoted keeping them safe, but their presence has not only caused pollution (waste products), but also has attracted their prey--great white sharks... Arrived to see about 6 Seals lying on the small beach and a few more in the water. We expected that to be it, but as we took a walk around the point there would have been a further 50 plus on the smaller beach. Beautiful location. Only spent about an hour here as was a cold day, but was... More

It is interesting to see the seals jump in the water in a natural surroundings but mostly fun for kids to be in the sand and water's end. Leave the swimming for the seals though!
