It was supposed to be a children's pool, but the harbor seals took over and it's a main tourist and local attraction. Great picture spot.

Totally enjoyable watching the seals and sea lions layed out on the beach.. We watched them for a while a few were playing... but most were sleeping, stretching, yawning, scratching themselves. Sweet little (actually big) babies.

Walk along the La Jolla Cove beach road as far as this semicircular pool. In pupping season, the beach is just covered with the sleeping bodies of seals and sea lions. Watch the young ones frisking in the waters and climbing on the beach and...More

You could spend hours here just watching the waves and the seals. It is a short walk to shopping, restaurants and entertainment.

We were so excited to see all of the seals and their babies sunning in the sand and swimming in the water. And sunbathing on the rocks. A must see if you are in the San Diego area.

Worth the nasty smell to see these creatures; but I had to move on due to the aroma. Further along the boardwalk are some beautiful views, so enjoy!

I have tried to visit this location on several occasions but have never been fortunate enough to get parking. This trip we were in luck mostly because we had an ADA parking pass. The location has excellent accessible parking for those that have a permit!...More

Seals enjoying the beach and rocks on a beautiful day. Go on up the beach a little ways and you will see Sea Lions doing the same.

How see the wild seals and sea lions. In this area they are protected. If you prefer to experience them a little more close up walk south and you will find them!

This use to be a Children's pool. Now its a pool for the local seals. I was told by our host that children at one time actually swam and played on the beach where the seals came up. Sad. But better safe than not. It...More

We did it. And did it with several whiny little kids, and big adults.
