This beach has just about everything you could want: scenic views, interesting rocks, tide pools, surfing, fishing... Plus it’s a very healthy beach considering how heavily trafficked it is. There are tons of critters, crabs, sand crabs- you can even see fish in the waves!...More

First, this is a surfing beach. The surfers here can be "D***S", very territorial in the water. On the beach, it is fine. The waves here crash hard, it is the rocks and the contour under the water, it is not a great swimming beach....More

The beach is relatively empty and serene, because it is a surfing beach. The reviews on here misled me and I just want to warn people. The tide can get very strong and the waves break hard, right into the sand and rocks, as opposed...More

Great surf spot and nice beach but very tide-dependent for beach sunning. Also can have shore-break which is not great for young or less experienced swimmers. Not a great spot to learn how to surf since the contour of the ocean floor that helps make...More

Spent part of the day here--liked it because there was plenty of beach and we could get in the water away from the surfers. We had fun body surfing the big waves.

Love this area and try to visit it whenever we are in the San Diego area. It's worth the drive and walk.

Amazing views of the coast line but we could only enjoy by several “drive bys” as we could not get parking. So I guess the trick here, is go early to get parking, so you can enjoy this great spot. The surfers were a spectacle...More

105 degrees in east county, I was in this area on some errands and did not look forward to heading east. I found a place to park right at the stairway leading down to the sand. I just took a short walk along the beach...More

It'll be fantastic. We were there over New Year's, & while we didn't have an interest in braving really cold water, there were plenty of surfers and swimmers wearing wetsuits in the surf. June is perfect for most.
