    Visit to intimidating creatures.
If you make it as far as Flores you should take a boat ride over to the national park to walk among the Komodo dragons. When you arrive on the island there is a long boardwalk before you meet up with the rangers. They are very informative and be sure that you can have a safe experience. There is a restaurant but we did not eat there. We were staying at the Plataran Komodo Resort and took a schooner which was docked adjacent to the resort. We were on a tour so I’m not sure if these vessels are available for non-group tours.

We came to see Komodo Dragons and we scored!
We visited Rinca Island and the Komodo National Park. The facilities are first class it was quiet but we saw five dragons specially the little one which we were told was only approx 5 months old. We learnt a lot of information about them and the park treats the dragons the water buffalo the deer and the monkeys as will so they let nature donuts stuff in terms of not feeding them which I like.

    Wow amazing creatures
Been to Komodo national park and it was just amazing to see the Komodo dragons ( big big lizards) in their natural habitat. They are huge and dangerous but one of the best experiences here in Flores. You have to walk with a ranger and stay on the teail cause these dragons can be very dangerous even if the are inactive a great part of the day. A real must see when being in Flores.

    magical
This was always on my bucket list and it was so awesome. The pier from the tender is quite a walk, so be prepared – but its beautiful crystal clear water on the way. You probably will see little dragons as soon as you get to the beach and where rangers are waiting. Our group of 25 took the ‘long’ walk – about 1.5 hours. The main spot is the ‘watering hole’ where there were about 8 dragons resting and a deer walked among them and drinking from the water. The rangers kept us in a semicircle around the area, and they were very willing to take your picture standing somewhat close to a dragon. We also saw a wild boar on the walk, but there was not a lot of action other than that watering hole. The only thing I was not crazy about was the assertive vendors all trying to sell t-shirts and wooden carved dragons. I got a nice t-shirt for $10, so I was happy. This is definitely a magical place.

    Worth a trip!
Accessible by boat, we were fortunate to see a couple of dragons when we visited. Our tour guide was knowledgeable as we walked around the island (3 options for walking, short 40 mins, medium 1 hour and long 1.5 hours). As you would expect, it’s a bit of a tourist trap in places to buy souvenirs, etc. Didn’t feel over crowded. Remember bug spray and comfortable shoes.

We were there in August 2023 on a three-day boat tour. It was totally overcrowded, we've never experienced anything like it. The guides don't speak English and don't explain anything. We actually wanted to go hiking 2.5km, but the guide brought us back after 15 minutes. We saw a monitor lizard being chased by herds of tourists. The entrance fee is completely overpriced, this is a pure tourist rip-off, no consideration is given to the welfare of the animals. It's absolutely not worth coming here! It was far too crowded everywhere for the entire three days. We can really only recommend investing the money elsewhere and staying away from here.

This is one more review and I will not say anything new, I simply confirm what other people have said. It's a circus for you to see those 3 or 4 komodo dragons fed up with eating, immobile and a Guide who doesn't to tell you that you're very lucky to encounter the dragons and that many times they're not... In addition to exposing a companion of his as if he were a fairground monkey because he is supposed to be attacked by a dragon on another island .. so that you buy him something .. The 2 year olds are loose, chickens , goats, all without any security measure, they would do it with a lion or a tiger ..

The park in itself is nice but it’s a wonder why the management does not invest into proper toilet facilities. There are thousands of visitor every day that pay 300k/person + the ranger fee, there’s tourists from around the world that do visit the park and yet they only have dirty Turkish toilets (ie a hole) , with no toilet paper nor water and soap to wash your hands! It’s absolutely disgusting 🤢 to the say the least ! Where goes the money?
They should address that! We did a 36 hour flight to go see the Komodo dragons and I cannot believe that the management does not have any sense of pride. It’s a natural park. There’s a limit at keeping all the money as a profit !

We visited the Komodo Island Natural Park driven by curiosity to see some wilderness and Komodo dragons.
The chilling sight we witnessed was finding "randomly" along the path of about an hour 3 beached dragons evidently sedated, because motionless in an unnatural position, ready to be photographed (we had the suspicion that they had been placed there by the same guides ..).
The guides took pictures of tourists 1 meter away from the animals in hunting trophy style, without any respect for their dignity.
More than a nature park it looks like a zoo or worse a circus.

Just horrendous. A million people, rubbish everywhere. The guide takes you round for about 10-15 minutes and you dont see anything obviously. There was one dragon near the buildings that looked like he’d been sedated so that the thousands of people could take pictures with it. Just awful. Dont bother going.

We enjoyed the one-day speedboat tour of the reserve. The route for everyone is approximately the same and at prices from 1,200,000 to 1,500,000. From 06:00 to 07:00 they are picked up at the hotel. Transfer to the port where the boat journey will begin. There they charge another 200,000 for the entrance ticket to the reserve. At 08:00 we moored at Padar Island. There, along the stairs and path, you will climb to the top of 200 meters where you can take pictures of four multi-colored beaches at the same time. This must be done before it gets hot, otherwise it will be difficult to get up later.
At 10:00 they arrive at the Pink Beach of Padar Island. Cool water is very refreshing after getting up. At 11:00 the boat docks at Komodo Island. There, together with a park ranger, we took a walk through the jungle and took pictures with a pair of overfed and sleepy monitor lizards.
After a light lunch, the boat moored to the small white sand island of Taka Makassar. The island protrudes several centimeters from the ocean. It was not possible to swim with manta rays and it seems that few people succeed. They happen several days a year. The coral garden in Turtle Bay on the island of Siaba Besar was not impressive and it was not possible to swim with turtles due to their absence.

We went to the komodo island as part of our boat cruise from Flores to Lombok.

When arriving on the jetty it already felt a bit off, this feeling unfortunately became a reality.

We were told the dragons were super dangerous and their we no guarantee we would see them. Our “ranger” directly went to a random tree, and there were 3 completely drugged / sedated komodo dragons. One tried to move but all it could do was to move their head.

Ranger told us they are not drugged and fed. But please read other reviews, you will see the dragons everyday at the same trees. I would not be surprised that they sedate them during the day and chain them when the tourists are gone, so that the tourists see the komodo dragons the next day for sure.

After a 30 mins walk we were led to some tourist market with all kinds of komodo merch.

We really had a nasty feeling after this trip.

The animals look majestic, that is true. But i wished I checked google reviews / trip advisor before going on the island.

This is really similar to the tiger & elephant tourist traps in Thailand..

Komodo National Park is actually not limited to Komodo Island which is the main conservation area for Komodo dragons, but as far as I understand, this park also includes surrounding islands such as Padar, Kelor, Taka Makassar and others.

I am happy with the government which is actively preserving nature here while implementing tourism. Hopefully it will always be looked after and hopefully there will be no strange tourists regardless of nationality
