After our lengthy stroll around the Stone Church and cathedral, we ended up at the Hoshino area, specifically Harunire Terrace for a break. Filled with the prerequisite posh cafes, eateries and classy souvenir shops, it's admittedly a tourist trap but so lovely I didn't mind...More

We took an evening tour about the flying squirrels and learned a lot before we saw three squirrels fly after sunset. A fun way to spend an evening at Piccio

This is a class onsen open to the public. You'd be hard pressed to find a public onsen of this quality elsewhere.

Nice ambience, environment, bakery shops and restaurants. Worth a 2-3 hours trip by taking a free shuttle bus from Karuizawa bus and train station. Try to get a walking map of Hoshino area from the Karuizawa train station. The Hoshino onsen is famous.
