Sounds like you had a fun day! The Mountain is Bald mountain and it is 2729 feet high, though on a warm day, it feels like 5000 feet.

I needed a break outdoors from the wine n dine of Sonoma and this was a great physical activity with beautiful scenery. Google maps got me to the park then there was a $8 fee for parking (cards accepted). A very friendly guy in the...More

Glad you had a good hike! If you come in the summer, start early and bring lots of water.

And it was a challenge. Beautiful hiking trails in one of Sonoma's valleys, a good departure from the rigors of wine tasting (joke!) We brought a deli sandwich and a gator ade, found a nice picnic table near a stream and enjoyed some time in...More

The more you hike, the more wine tasting you can do. Glad you enjoyed the hike and the park.

A great place for a day hike and for overnight camping. Camp sites are rustic. No hookups for campers/rvs. There are fire rings and water spigots and a very clean and well kept toilet shower facility. They have a small amphitheater where they put on...More

Here's a venue in my own backyard I wasn't aware of! Sugarloaf Ridge State Park isn't owned by the State any longer! A few non-profit organizations now maintain the park and are doing a fabulous job at it. There are two locations to pay the...More

We hiked two different trails in this beautiful state park. One offered mountain views and open space; the second was through woods and passed a stream and waterfall. Both trails had steep sections, leaving us a little breathless, but the scenery was also breathtaking. I...More

When you get tired of visiting all the wineries in Napa and Sonoma this may be a good place to visit. There's a nice waterfall hike that probably takes only about 45 minutes or half an hour. It is a steep incline down when you...More

Sugarloaf is a very nice park for hiking and sightseeing. The 75F spring weather we had was ideal for hiking. It even had some redwoods and a waterfall (1 week after some rain so I don't know how much water there is in the summer)....More

I have a question regarding the "dip" in the road: I am pulling a fifth-wheel, should I be concerned about this dip?

Answer
Response from TeamSugaloaf |
Yes. The dip limits the size of trailers that can get into the campground. About 28 foot rv and 24 foot trailer is the limit.

Website says (in one spot) that the campground is a no alcohol zone, but in another that no one under 21 may possess alcohol (which is the law, I think). Can you confirm? We're quiet old people who like a glass of wine by the fire in the evening.
