My wife and I love this park. Nice clean sites and wild turkeys and deer all around. Be advised that during fire season no campfires allowed. This can be fixed with a portable propane gas fire pit. It's better than nothing. They have been much...More

There are lots of hiking trails in this park and most involve a fair bit of elevation change. There are numerous camping sites in the park and it appears to be quite popular. We were there to hike and enjoyed the time there. You are...More

My husband and I rented a cabin for our family of 6 (4 children 6 and under). The cabin was the perfect size with four bunk beds and a double bed in front. Some hints: 1. Cabins do not have bathrooms (or water) but they...More

June 5, 2017 made the trip from Orange County. The beautiful blue sky was a wonderful back drop to the hiking we did. Well maintained trails. Cost was $3 to enter, per car. 4 miles off the main road. Look for wild turkeys on the...More

This is a really nice campground with great showers and rest rooms, electricity in many sites for RV's or those who just want electricity. Rangers are very friendly as are the plentiful deer, squirrels, and birds. Lovely place.

Clean bathrooms, nice little playground and picnic area. They also have camping, but we were just stopping on our way to Julian.

I have camped and hiked in the Julian area for decades with my two boys, now grown. We have our best memories at Heise. The setting is out of town, but close enough to go in and visit. Beautiful vistas on the trails, and the...More

The California landscape is represented beautifully at this great escape. The hiking trails are relatively easy and offer encounters with diverse wildlife and views ranging from ravines cluttered with manzanita and oak to hilltops offering a desert view.

There are spigots at most of the cabin sites. Some serve as community spigots for some of the cabins within close proximity. I didn't get a look at the camping area sites but I would assume there are spigots there as well... More
