While we enjoyed the wine tasting at Fort Ross, the ride up the winery was really cool - a winding single lane road up through the redwoods from RT 1. Nice patio deck for tasting in a casual setting with nice views. Off the beat...More

If you are on Hwy 1 near Jenner, I recommend a brief detour to Fort Ross winery. Tasting room is beautiful and the Pinot Noir wine is exceptional. I am not typically a red wine fan but the Stagecoach was an exception.

It takes 10-15 minutes up a winding road to reach the winery. They have chardonnay and pinot noir for the most part for a $15 tasting fee. The wines are in the $45-60 range, though there are some more expensive reserves on offer as well....More

Breathtaking view, fantastic host and very good wine! I believe we had Henry, we learned a lot from him that day. He is very well informed and very passionate about their product.
