Breathtakingly beautiful scenery abounds, providing hikers of every skill level/ability with several well-maintained trails to explore and enjoy the natural wonder of this area. This is one of only five state parks in California where hikers have access to the jewel of America's hiking trails, the Pacific Crest Trail. Campers of all genres will enjoy this wilderness area as well.... More

I rode the Tram up to the Visitor Center. There is a fee ($24 for me) for this and the ride is excellent, just by itself. From the VC, I set out on what turned out to be a full day of hiking R/T to the top of Mt San Jacinto. - I'm not what you would call a fast... More

Many hikes to choose from out of Idyllwild and most have terrific views. There are several first come first served campsites including some yellow post sites which are great for a larger group and more secluded. There is an option for anyone from those looking for a leisurly stroll to someone wanting to grind out several miles with lots of... More

San Jacinto is the best. All the trails are well kept and beautiful! Love taking the trail up to the fire tower lookout. It's amazing how far you can see on a clear day. Also, love going up to San Jacinto Peak, that is an amazing backpacking trip!

We got to San Jacinto State Park via the Palm Springs tram. After the heat of Palm Springs, the cooler temps at the top of the tram ride for a hike in Mount San Jacinto State Park was very relaxing. Lots of great trails and fresh air. Take some water and a light jacket, but definitely worth the trip!

We took the Palm Springs Tram to get to this awesome State Park! It's a whole different world on top of this mountain compared to the desert. Please see my pictures of the Palm Springs Aerial Tram review. There are many hiking trails to explore; and my favorite was the Desert View Trail. I would strongly recommend dressing a lot... More

Clean trail on Southridge trail to Tahquitz Peak and fire lookout. "Key hole" site is interesting geologic formation and photo subject. Many photo ops of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
