tourist center from Banuae will discourage you to come and stay here, saying there is no hotel, or we dont know. this is BS, there is great homestay (giovanni's place) and the area is 1000 time better than Banaue, with great walk, and hot springs. But the guide from Banaue dont make money here, as you have to take a local guide for the hot spring. you can come by yourself from Banaue there is jeepney hourly in the afternoon and sleep over in hapao. jeepney goes back daily to banaue 7.30 am

To get to Hapao, take a jeepney bound for Hungduan.
Hungduan is 6-7km from Hapao, and walking is tough. It costs about 150p by tricyclo.
From Banaue, there is a jeepney in the afternoon.
When you see the rice terraces just before Hungduan, it's better to get off and walk. You can take good photos.
There is a homestay in Hungduan, and the view is good from the high ground.
There is only one jeepney going back to Banaue in the early morning.

The road to Hungduan sometimes is so narrow that is difficult to disperse with oncoming transport. Many mountain creeks cross the road. I can not imagine how to ride there after rain. But suddenly to meet us a jeepney drove up and we had to stay close to the precipice to skip it. It was scary. Rice terraces were beautiful.

The ride from Banaue to Hungduan is breathtaking and a little scary in the rain! They are fixing the road the entire way and it is good in most parts but with significant muddy sections, difficult to navigate. That said, the rice terraces are gorgeous and there's a great view from the road, high above them. Highly recommended as part of the trip to Hapao terraces/ hot springs!

Great place. You walk among the rice terraces. Beautiful view and easy walk.
At the local point you have to pay around 200 pesos and they are also they are obligating you to take a local guide. At the and of the walk there is a great Hot spring. Very recommended.

I always like to see this place for myself but since it's a long way from Manila so I need a reason or two to spend a long weekend that far. And when a trail running event was scheduled, I know I had to go. The experience is priceless. This is one of my most memorable running experience, I felt that finishing my race early is like wasting a great adventure. I don't care what time I will finish, I just enjoy every step and hills I pass, and when I reached the finish line, I wish I can go back and enjoy it once more.

It was my first time to visit this place and it was very beautiful refreshing place. People are nice and accommodating. I love the people there they welcome everyone and offer us breakfast. I will definitely going back and meet more people. The festival was beautiful too i met old people and it was amazing their stories about their cultures. I am so happy to see old people who joined the festival also this young generations that proud wearing their traditional clothes. Very memorable experienced for me😊❤

Yes you read it right its the whole place under UNESCO Word Heritage place :) not like Banaue Rice Terraces that it has only specific part of the UWH. All rice terraces in Hungduan are registered and under UWH. Aside from this if you are a fan of history :) this is your best chance to hike the route of Gen Yamashita last stand before he temporarily surrender at Kiangan, Ifugao and formally surrender in baguio under then Maj Ferdinand Marcos. Aside from the Rice Terraces you may enjoy those hot and cold springs, trek and climb Mt Napulauan and other Mountains around Hungduan.

This was not just a chance to take photos but to walk among the rice terraces, along at times some narrow paths. The 'up close and personal' added significantly to the appreciation of the work involved.

Only stopped here to take in the view. Did not walk through to the hot water springs I was told about by my guide as we were driving back to Manila immediately after. It's different to the other rice terraces but almost as impressive.
