AVV is one of the few vineyards to still offer free tastings to their customers. They have some nice wines and while you are sipping you can read about Cyrus Alexander and the history of the Alexander Valley. The employees are knowledgeable and fun.

Well known for their Red Zinfandel line, the vineyard produces, in my opinion, an equally good Cabernet Sauvignon. This is our first stop at Alexander Valley and, unfortunately, due to some rather heavy rain, we were not able to take advantage of the grounds that offer very nice perspectives. That doesn't mean we haven't enjoyed the venue. The whole staff... More

You know you are at the best vineyard when they have saddles hanging in there tasting room from winning best wine at Houston Livestock show and at San Antonio Livestock show. The cave tour was amazing. Most personable tour we went on in Sonoma or Napa Valley. Great Zinfindales and the Cyrus is the best. We were able to stay... More

We learned of this winery by googling cave wineries. Nancy gave an excellent tour of the wine cave with wine samples from the barrel! Then we took a walk up the path to see the burial grounds. We returned to the wine tasting room. The wines were very good. The complimentary wine sampling were good but the $10 wine tastings... More

Alexander cave tour was more than than we expected. Our host was interesting. We loved the stories and the walk to the top of the hill to see the cemetery. Tasting wine directly from the barrels was thrilling to say the least. We also learned about the different types of barrels and how that affects the overall taste. Seeing them... More

We booked the Wine Carriage tour and this is where they start from, arrive early and you can do both the tasting and the cave tour before you head out on a day of fun. We were lucky enough to come at harvest and they were running the crusher outside, the smell was so amazing, like the best bottle of... More

We opted to do the hike and we were glad we did. This isn't really a "hike" but more of a stroll through the vineyard -during the hike you also taste wine along the way. Our guide was knowledgeable and shared a lot of information about the history of the vineyard in addition to sharing information about the types of... More
