Mavericks is a great place of beautiful nature, The bluff tops and the ocean meeting create a place of serenity. The waves can be the largest in the world here. But do not expect to see them very well with the naked eye. They break way out in the ocean, there is a huge coral reef below. The water is... More

Very good micro brew. Our waiter was fun and the food was great. The band was exceptional. I would say my only more negative comment is that our waiter was a little inattentive. But it was very busy and understandably so.

Walked and viewed this popular surf point, it was calm and hard to imagine the surf waves crashing, gigantic waves were not visible except in winter

There really isn't anything to see. You can walk along the beach but can't get past the point where the big waves break. If you park in the parking lot and walk up the road there is a Airforce Military fence and guard shack that put reaching the best vantage point out of reach. During the big wave completion you... Great beach, I mean Steve Jobs named an Operating System after it! The views are incredible. Small parking lot, but I've never had a problem finding a spot. It is windy, though! Bring a windproof jacket, and a hat without a bill. I'm not a surfer, but during surf season I'm guessing it gets a lot busier.

The walk beside the estero, from the parking lot, usually follows a raised track at the foot of some very friable cliffs. When we visited in late February the track was closed due to small landslides that had come down in recent heavy rains. It is possible to negotiate these spots by deviating onto the bayside beach and ten minutes... More

We had a quick view of the Maverick waves on a rainy day. It was worth the trek out and marked off my bucket list. I get to say I saw the surfer waves with friends. Glad to have walked on the beach.

I like to walk beaches and carry binoculars to check out the birds. This is a great place even when packed with people. Cliffs, beach and wetland add to the variety of wildlife. Have lunch nearby and wave watch.

We went to this beach because we knew that Maevricks is famous for huge waves and an annual surfing championship. We walked on the beach but discovered the surfing waves are two miles out so we couldn't see them from land. You can't climb up the hill because it's an Air Force location and off limits. We did see some... More

Even though the conditions were bad, it was still cool to see where epic waves form. Wish it could have been better conditions though. Easy access and parking.
