Our visit to the Bourn Cottage was the introduction to visit Filoli in Woodside, CA, the bigger estate from the Bourn family. The tour in the house was a blast for us, four actors playing William Bourn and his cousin George Starr and their wives...More

Charming, historical, cottage especially during the holidays when the cottage is full of the 'family' in period costumes welcoming you to the warmth of this 'cottage' from the Gold Mining days. The grounds are lovely year round. A reminder of the graciousness of living in...More

We visited right after Christmas and the cottage wasn't open for tours. We did enjoy strolling the grounds and admiring the property. Well maintained property next to the Empire Mine.

History of the Gold Rush and Hardrock mining is abundant at the Empire mine in Grass Valley, CA. Look for good weather and plan on spending a full day or two at this amazing place. You will not be disapointed. An especially great family outing.

Friendly docents in historical garb. Fun to try to get them to break character! Worthwhile...take your time in the cottage.

During April to September on the week ends, you can relive history. Be a guest of Mr and Mrs Bourne. Be invited into the kitchen to hear Katy tell about her life as the care taker and cook of the Cottage. Live during 1905!
