We enjoyed our visit to the Gardens, but the drought and the time of year made the floral display somewhat limited. We just love being outdoors, though, so it was still a pleasant walk through the hills and we loved seeing all of the trees and a few lizard friends as well. :)

A very easy to get to Botanical Garden. Not much in bloom in July, Still plenty to see. Offers a very interesting hiking trail. Tuesdays are free days for seniors.

Quarryhill is a research botanical garden with one of the largest collections of temperate Asian plants in North America. The plants are from China, Japan, India and other Asian nations. It is located in Glen Ellen in the Sonoma Valley, California. We saw lotus flowers in ponds, waterfalls, running creeks, lillies, large magnolia leaves. We would recommend giving yourself about... Not super easy access to much of this garden but it is so worthwhile seeing if you put a bit of energy into it. Beautiful trees and flora and a splendid place to roam.

This is a botanical garden that is not 'groomed' or formal. There are miles of trails with many plant tags and numbered signs corresponding to the brochure to give visitors information about the plantings. The seeds for the plants were collected in Asia and planted in on-site greenhouses and then planted in the gardens. The trails are not paved though there... More

The drive to get to this botanical garden is as beautiful as the garden - rolling hills, forested areas, vineyards. The flowers are blooming in the spring - a pleasant trip. This garden has unusual Asian plants that have been collected & brought to this area for growth & display. There's a good trail, a little up & down; &... More

We were not prepared for the uphill hike this takes to follow the well made trails. We wore sandals which are not good with loose gravel and steep downhills. It is a gorgeous hike, but the "gardens" are disappointing after seeing many beautiful botanical gardens we felt it was misnamed. Very few signs to guide visitors about the plants/history, etc.... This was once a privately owned garden collection of specimens brought from China and the Orient. The hillside and paths have close access to well labelled specimens of trees, flowering plants, ground cover. Be sure to visit the prayer flags atop the hill for a view of the valley and spiritual respite. The ponds and waterfalls are another place to... More

Very small, tree based. Wasn't what expected... Cute small walking paths, but not a ton of flowers or sculpted arrangements that many gardens are known for. I wouldn't say it's a cannot miss.

A great way to spend a couple of hours on a sunny spring morning. The collection of trees and shrubs from around the world, though mainly the Far East, was delightful, as were the views from the highest part of the garden. Don't miss this arboricultural gem.
