It doesn't take long to get through, but I had a fun time visiting here with a local friend. It has such a storied history, you owe it to yourself to visit. There's a charming front lawn and memorabilia inside.

Driving up to the prison is kinda creepy with huge granite, block turrets. In a strange, and again creepy way, it's worth seeing....sort of. There are some fairly talented artists in there and if you ever want to pick up a velvet John Wayne or naked Kim Kardashien, this is your spot

The museum is still in a small house next to the prison which gives it a great feeling but they are building a new bigger museum, The lady working in the museum was very knowledgable and it was interesting seeing at the memorabilia including weapons made in the prison and confiscated and also a match stitch Ferris wheel. Worth an... More

Can't wait for the new building to be made. The current one is right next to the real prison what gives it another awesome exotic touch. The people working there are retired jail cops. So much to see and read, but due to small space everything is cramped up. Still worth the visit.

Interesting little museum near the iconic guard towers. Take an hour or so out of your day to visit, The staff are mostly ex guards & are knowledgeable & Approachable.

A interesting look at Folsom prison and history but it could be expanded and so much more could be done. Then again it is an active prison and watching them check trunks of vehicles was a sobering reminder of that...

This is one of the best museums in the Sacramento area and what a value! $2 gets you in the door and gives you a great excuse to go inside the Prison gate (to go to the museum). Take your time walking in and out and you may see a change of shift of the guards or a Prison transfer... More

To relieve overcrowding at San Quentin, Folsom Prison was built and construction began in 1878. The dark grey color of the stone is beautiful and the craftsmanship is amazing. You are only allowed so far in the gate but a good photo op. The museum is small but well worth the visit. We saw the video and then toured the... More
