It is a long drive up, but worth it. Great Views, different bio-zones, fun!. Great trees at the top!!! The Observatory is a 20th Century Wonder...the peak of industrial technology post WWII that still is a marvel today. Must See!

I've been taking friends and visitors to the park and Observatory for 30 years. It is always beautiful and the little hike area is perfect for "non-hikers". I love learning about our solar system in the museum too. You can do a more strenuous hike...More

Such a beautiful place! Beautiful trees, plants, and trails! They have picnic areas and bathrooms spread about the park. There is a small fee for parking (I believe it was $10 or something?) but it's so worth it! We were there for hours.

Hey I'm looking to stay at a camp site on palomar mountain. Which site #'s are the best? Great view? access to trails? near the pond or observatory?

I didn't get a chance to go to the campsites; I stayed at the picnic area. I'm sure someone else will be able to help you. I definitely need to go back. Have a great stay!
