Swami's is a unofficial name surfers have given the 'Point Break' under the Encinitas Self-Realization Fellowship Ashram, located next to San Elijo State Beach. This internationally known surfing spot also goes by the name 'Swami's reef and 'Pipes'.

Cross under the railroad tracks, you emerge in front of the temple and veer into the parking lot. Descend the stairs and jump onto the packed sand. Quiet and calm. It will be just you and the early morning surfers and beachcombers.

This underused beach is not crowded because it must be reached down a series of stairs or a hike from another beach with access. The local surfers consider it a favorite, because of it's good break and uncrowded surf. Limited parking next to the temple,...More

The hike down the stairs is fairly steep (fair warning for those who need it), but the walk along the beach is everything you might expect from a north county beach. Do note the tide charts at the lifeguard stations; when the tide is high...More

Swami's beach is a great beach to go to if you want to watch the local surfers. There isn't much beach area. It's mostly about the surf.

If you want to see Southern Californian locals, go here. Beautiful beach with a lot of surfing. Parking can be a challenge but parking on the side of the street is somewhat available. Because a lot of locals go here, there's always cars pulling in...More

Located on the coast highway (101) on the south end of Encinitas, Swami's is an institution. Whether you come to surf (kinda local but you can fit in), watch others surf, enjoy the tidepools on laze on the beach (not at high tide), you will...More

Went to Swami's in Encinitas expecting same as La Mesa..No comparison. The food was barely edible. We did not eat the chicken in the burrito , little dry squares..Poor service.

This is more famous as a surf spot than a casual beach goers location. The point can capture great west and north swells to form some really excellent waves for riding. It doesn't blow out very often either so all day surfing can be possible....More

Beautiful area. Love the stair well. You can look around and see for miles. Surfers like the spot. Close to town and restaurants
