Love the Yuba and Downie Rivers! Downieville is a quaint town with a couple of great swimming holes - one right in town where the rivers come together and the other just up 49 after you pass through town toward Sierra City.

The Tahoe national forrest is one of the best ran in California. Free dry camping throughout with a type of beauty you can't find anywhere in the state. The emerald pools area is my favorite. Great place for off roaders and hikers, with amazing photo...More

We were all over the Tahoe National Forest for the entire weekend and it was incredible. Highway 49 travels right through it and there is recreation everywhere.

We decided to drive on this route which is really a beautiful scenic area with lots of vista stops to check out the views around one. It was not too busy on the roads so we had a good leisurely drive.

We visited Tahoe National Forest in June 2017. This is a beautiful forest area; one of our favorite places to visit it is in the Lake Tahoe area. Its always so nice to see in the summer.

We had a very nice drive from Reno through Tahoe National Forest to Sacramento area. The trees were beautiful with the snow. People were building snow men. Tahoe National Forest is an area of 1362 square miles.

one of my all time favorite towns, charming, quaint, and so beautiful. I visit quite often and the restarants and bars are friendly and nice, also the motels are affordable and clean, I will always come back.
