My first stay was, Desert Hot Springs Spa & Hotel. I've stayed there many times in the past, so reading recent reviews had me a little nervous, but of course, It was the same and maybe a little better than i remembered. Yes, the hotel is old and some items in the rooms are outdated, but my room was fine for what it is. A 3 Star hotel with a 5 star experience. 8 different pools of mineral water coming from the earth and for the first day or two, I was one of only one or two people in the pools. It was heaven.

My room at Desert Hot Springs Spa had a balcony view of the pools, a mini fridge, and microwave. My first night, I ordered Instacart groceries (and water) to have in the room.

What I packed: My satin pillow cases, Electric Throw(best decision i made) It gets chilly in the desert even in the summer. The heater in the room was the old school style, noisy and a bit smelly, so the throw was perfect. I packed @ 5 bathing suits.

I also stayed at Miracle Springs spa and visited Sams family spa during my trip. Will review them next.

Called early and got great information and booked a 90 minute couples massage. Arrived about a half hour early and was warmly received and got a quality tour of the facility. My massage was a 7 out of 10. My partners massage was a 9 out of 10. Facilities could use an upgrade but were satisfactory. Spa salt water pool and service at the pool was very good and looked over the 18th fairway of the Palms golf course. Very good experience, but don’t have much to compare it to locally price wise.

Concise Review

Nice, Relaxing Spa with Celebrity History

-----

Longer Review

We visited Southern California - Palm Desert, Yucaipa, and Malibu - for Spring Break 2021.

One day while the kids and I were having a day of fun racing cars at Willow Springs International Raceway with Extreme Speed Track Events, my wife and her cousin had some relaxing fun on their own.

The decor is authentic 1950s/1960s, with celebrity photos adorning the walls.

They have several pools for relaxing... one dedicated cold pool and eight dedicated pools with various temperatures of warm water

The staff was very friendly and attentive to guests.

While our favorite day of the trip was racing at the track the ladies’ favorite day was the same day, at Desert Hot Springs Spa.

See you next visit!

We had issues with an older man watching little girls (10-16 years old) we let Bruce know and he tried to handle it as best as he could. The “manager” was very rude about it. After the situation with the older man another gentleman approached us an hour after the incident. Demanding that we don’t know if it was true or not. And Bruce was the first one we called over. The most helpful person in the place. We will definitely be back to see him. Bruce went above and beyond!!!

We visited to use the jacuzzis after a day of exploring Joshua Tree national park. The place is clean, big, and with plenty of pools to choose from. I was amazed that it was only $10, which seemed like great value to me. The decor is definitely outdated, but it gives the place a kitschy charm. It left us wishing we had the time to come back and spend an entire day there!

This place was lovely and not too fussy/fancy. It seemed relaxing and midweek it was not crowded. $5/ seniors.
There are 8 mineral pools - cool to 105 F .
Changng rooms. Showers. Lockers. Lifeguard.
Bring your own lock and towel.
I will go again!

This property would definitely put some people off with it's age and crumbling appearance, but the rooms were clean, the bed comfy and the people nice. This appears to be the place that the average person can afford and enjoys. There were people of every age and ethnic group and they were all having fun. There was a live band on Sunday afternoon that was fun. The little restaurant there is clean and the food decent with large portions. There are 8 different pools of varying temperatures and sizes and an olympic pool that was glorious early in the morning. It's not a high end spa, but it's fun.

Desert Hot Springs Spa was an eclectic place to go and take in the hot spring water of the desert. There are several pools to choose from, and each one has a different temperature. Watch out for staying in the sun too long, easy to do when you are enjoying these spring waters.

We cannot comment on the hotel itself, as we only came for the day to enjoy a soak/swim in the pools. The positive: the pools are clean! This is not the first time we visited, but it is sad that over the years the place looks more and more run down! The change rooms( female) are nothing for the faint-hearted: the carpet looked grungy, and the tile floor looked more like a monkey cage with roasted nuts spilled all over. Three showers are there. One already has a sign " out of service". In the second shower the taps are absent, which obviously makes this one out of service as well. The one that is working is overrun! The staff seems to be the most significant asset of this place. Everybody was friendly and helpful. We went on a Tuesday, where a day pass for the pool is a very modest $5.00 per person. It is a different story, if you go on another day and pay full price for a place that is not up to snuff! In view of the deficiencies giving the place a "3" is generous.
