The path is partly steep but not an issue with good shoes. And the peak itself reveals a magnificent view which pays you pack for all the effort invested.

What a pleasurable hike! Every step of the way to the peak of Stonewall there is a breath taking view. You can park at the campground of the Cuyamaca Rancho State Park across the road from the beginning of the trail. The cost is $10....More

Stonewall peak is a nice hike but not for the unprepared or unfit. It's about four and a half miles there and back and nearly 900 feet of elevation gain to get to the top. If your up for it though the view from the...More

Stonewall peak is a fairly easy to moderate difficulty trail. Be careful of rattlesnakes on the trail. Always amazes me that people hike with two earbuds in on hikes. You need to be aware of your surroundings. End rant. Great panoramic views and generally windy...More

We hiked this trail after overhearing some people talking in a shop. It's a very well-marked trail, with lots of switchbacks to make it easier. The views are wonderful. The top has steps up to an overlook with information about what you're looking at. It...More

Relatively easy to moderate trail just east of Julian and Lake Cuyamaca. 2 miles of switchbacks rewards you with an incredible 360 degree view.

Liked the whole path. It is a moderate trail with great views. The 4 miles round trip took around 2-3 hrs. The view from the peak was really beautiful.

There are 2 mountain hikes in the Rancho Cuyamaca State Park: Cuyamaca and Stonewall Peak. They are both good, but Stonewall Peak is the one I'd return to. From downtown, drive an hour to the mountains outside San Diego, about 45 minutes on I-8 East...More
