Our drive over Sonora Pass Sunday last was marvelous, until we arrived at the area devastated by the Donnell Fire. Dardenelle Reaort is gone and square miles of blacked mountainsides attest to the intensity of the fire. Still a worthwhile journey, but be prepared for...More

The wildflowers were in full bloom! Lots of interesting places for photography. Not as white knuckling as some have claimed. It is a rather pleasant drive if you don’t rush it. Stop for the views...

This was my first traverse of the Sierras on the 108, and I hope it won’t be my last. The scenery is beautiful, and in places quite dramatic. Motorists not used to mountain driving may find the curves and the lack of guard rails a...More

We have driven Sonora Pass a number of times. From Sonora to the Dardanelle Store, the road is a pretty easy mountain drive. We like Pinecrest Lake and Resort area. There are beautiful forest and mountain views. When one gets to the Dardanelle Store area,...More

With late snow falls and the Tioga Pass Rd closed we travelled from east to west via Sonora Pass. To say the scenery was spectacular is an understatement. Tall trees, waterfalls, snow covered mountains. Wonderful

A strenuous hike starting at 9600' and climbing to magnificent open Ridgeline on PCT almost to Yosemite in 4 miles. First 2 miles rigorous but then levels off to view Blue Lake to west and crossing crest, Latopie Lake to east. If you have a...More

We had to use the Senora pass because the Tioga pass was closed due to bad weather. It worked out as 7 hour detour (which sounds horrific)... FAR FROM IT! This pass has everything, baked deserts to snow topped mountains! One of the best things...More

Riding east to west from the 395 to Sonora, the road starts off with some incredible dips, curves and hairpins, all with outstanding views of surrounding mountains and valleys. Be sure to stop often to take in the views and the cascades. What a great...More

I'm glad we chose taking Route 108 from Reno to Fresno. The scenery was fabulous, highlighted with Sonora Pass and the Donnell Lake Vista. The whole road is scenic. Just take your time as it is steep in places with lots of turns.
