Winery experience geared for those that are wanting to learn! My husband and I are moderately practiced wine "tasters", even so, Tim challenged us to think about the entire sensory experience. Tim and Kandy also make some absolutely fantastic wine. We very much appreciated all the time they spent with us, answering any questions we had about different parts of viticulture and viniculture. We had a very fun time, and highly recommended to any wine enthusiast.

Its always great to meet those who truly like to know more about wine, especially without the normal hype and hotair that a lot of the industry advances. Wine is for family, food and friends, and the more you know about it, the more you appreciate it. Thanks guys, and especially to our new Space Force Captain and his wife on their first anniversary.

Been vacationing in Sonoma for a week. Visited several wineries. Bobdog was by far our favorite. Owns Tim and Candy are amazing. They take a lot of time teaching their guest about wine tasting and food pairing. Make an appointment to go! Out of the way but worth every minute. Really nice quality wine and a great experience!

I had the pleasure of going to BobDog Winery on my last full day of a visit to Cloverdale last month. It's owned and operated by Tim and Kandy Ward. It is by appointment only. Kandy happily set up my visit when I called, and Tim greeted me the next day. Being the owners and operators of a winery (i.e., there's always something to be done), I was surprised to learn that whenever they have visitors, Tim and/or Kandy will rearrange their busy schedules to personally be with you for the tasting. I was further surprised, almost dumbstruck, as what I assumed would be an hour max turned into 3 hours! That is part of the meaning of my review title, as I had to leave preconceived notions at the door as the Wards really set a new standard when it comes to wine tastings. Those 3 hours are full by the way, not just idle chit chat, as Tim patiently takes his guests through an educational process when it comes to wine, something which he takes very seriously. In fact, no matter what your experience level, whatever you think you may know about wine may be challenged. Thankfully, Tim enjoys educating visitors, and he's very good at it. So don't expect this to be a passive affair with some so-called sophisticate doing all the talking as you struggle to retain a few details. Tim is a down-to-earth guy who will make sure you are engaged in the process. To be fair, Tim will differentiate your visit from a typical wine tasting, as he calls it a "wine sensing" experience, as it's meant to employ all of your senses, not just taste. I don't want to say anything further about this as that's Tim's baby and a big part of the fun of the visit, but what I will say is that he's very serious about YOU, wine consumer, coming away with your OWN knowledge of what wine is about, and not what someone else thinks you should know. Another reference to the review title: you'll quickly pick up that Tim doesn't have a lot of patience for BS, as you begin to realize that most of us have unfortunately learned at least some of what we think we know about wine based on some slick industry marketing and flowery language, when what is really important is what does a wine me to you or me? As well as how can I use my own language and senses (hint: there's more than one!) to make a decision about wine, without getting caught up in a bunch of hype? I've visited many wineries in the premier wine-making regions around the world, but I've never experienced anything like this. While some places have had some great wine, most of them have run together in my memory over time. But with BobDog, I feel like I have an invaluable experience that will stay with me into any future situation involving wine, because it substantively helped inform the knowledge and experience that matters most: MINE. Thanks Tim and Kandy! Brian P.S. On another note, the scenery is outstanding. And fun fact: the vineyards surrounding the winery happen to be among the highest grown in America.

It was our last day in Sonoma and we headed to our reservation to visit BobDog Winery - a small, unique, intimate winery. We arrived early and headed up the old "stagecoach" road (Mark Twain and Teddy Roosevelt once took) that leads to the hot springs. I would recommend if you have time; extremely scenic. The drive up to the winery is breathtaking seeing the vineyards this high up overlooking the valley. Interesting to see the different directions of the plantings to maximize the natural topography of the land and water. The entire experience was quite informational and we appreciated the stories that Tim shared with us. We left much more knowledgeable about wine in every sense!

Harvey: you make our day! Trying everyday to just educate people about the wine, the farming and the life here on Pine Mountain, 2000 feet above the Russian River.
