Spent a fun afternoon driving up to Mount Diablo, and taking pictures at the summit. We took along a picnic and enjoyed eating at one of the many picnic areas. The road is not for those who are easily bothered by motion sickness due to...More

After reading various reviews online, and given that my visit was during literally the hottest weekend of the year, I planned to arrive early. I entered the park a bit after 7:30 a.m. (their sign claimed the official opening time was 8:00 a.m., for whatever...More

Drive to the summit and enjoy one of the best views in the San Francisco Bay Area. You can see the whole Bay Area from there, and even the Sierra Nevada on a good day. Even better, enjoy the sights of the state park on...More

Even after being away from MDSP for many years, I often reminisce about the times I hiked (more like "strolled") through the Park either solo or with friends. It was a grand spot for sunsets in those days. Hope it still is...

Great place to hike, mountain bike or take a horse. There are several options for shorter/longer distances. Great views on the top. Easy on the feet - dirt trails.

$10 entry fee per car - a dollar off for seniors. Wish we had given ourselves more time to drive up to the summit of Mount Diablo. Definitely allow yourself at least 3 hours --- 45 minutes to drive up (that will include time to...More

A jewel! Simply. A wonderful park in which to saunter, walk, hike, or simply gain elevation to see magnificent views of the S F Bay Area, and of the Central Valley, all the way to the Sierras on any clear day.

This park is amazing but too bad its ruined by overzealous bicyclers. I've been in the bay area a long time and always wanted to visit Mount Diablo. Recently on a Saturday around noon I traveled up the winding road to the top. Once at...More

Entered via south entrance. Very steep & curvy road. On a Sunday there were lots of bicyclists going up & coming down. A little nerve wracking driving up in the fog. But worth it for views when we got to top. Fog was gone from...More

I did go to the website and decided to try here for an answer. Since then spent one night at Juniper site no area to jump in water or fish but a very nice campground and not far to the peak. I will return for more.

If you want to go right up to the summit, you have to get out before 8:30 pm (sunset; from memory, in summer) since they close the gates to that part for the night. But there are camping sites at the lower reaches (which are... More

Hi, The park opens at 8.am and closes at sun down. "Park Hours Gates open 8:00am and close at sunset. Visitors should plan to be in their vehicles by sunset and headed out to avoid being locked in".
