Take a tour from friendly guides through this gorgeous mansion belonging to our City's founders. Christmas time is the ideal time to visit as they decorate and there are typically barbershop singers caroling and it is fun for the entire family.

I had heard of General Bidwell. But was not aware of he and his wife's influence on California history.

We visited Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park. The key feature of this park is the 26 room Victorian Mansion. At the time it was built, the mansion had the most modern plumbing, gas lighting and water systems. The home was owned by John Bidwell and his wife Annie Ellicott Kennedy Bidwell. They were married on April 16,1868. John Bidwell was... More

This is a must see when you are in the Butte County area. The home of John and Annie Bidwell is a step back in the rich history of the area. Good information, good tour.

If you are interested in California history, this is a must place to visit. John Bidwell was instrumental in settling California, and even ran for US President. His wife donated land for what is now Bidwell Park, one of the largest city parks in the country.

Curious about Victorian era life? Bidwell Mansion can give you the opportunity to take a step into that world. Located in the city of Chico, California, founded by John Bidwell, the mansion was built in an Italianate style popular at the time, created specifically for Bidwell's great love, Annie Kennedy. When Mrs. Bidwell came to town, she decorated her home... More
