We brought our children (ages 10 and 12) to see this mission as part of the 4th grade mission project. We built our whole trip to Carmel around this Mission and were not disappointed. There were docents available to talk to about the history of the Mission, we took our time strolling the grounds and my girls loved taking pictures... More

The Carmel Mission is a classic California Mission. The beautiful structure is well-maintained, and the displays are well-curated. The grounds in the inner courtyard were renovated in 2015. The surrounding gardens offer peaceful meandering among statues and graves of priests long past. It was little disconcerting to hear Frank Sinatra singing Christmas carols (in the museum shop) while we were... More

It's an old Spanish mission, very well restored, beautiful and peaceful. There is an entrance fee to get inside, but here is a little secret. it is located on a leveled slope, so the street on one side is way above the ground level of the mission, so before buying a ticket you can just walk around and take a... It is a Must do if you visit the area. We had a great time there although struggled with parking. The museum and the back yard was unbelievable, so true to the area and time of establishing the place. Stunning colours in the garden from all the lovely flowers.

The admission to the Carmel Mission is $6.50 per person and it is so worth it. It's an absolutely beautiful historical site. So peaceful and picturesque to walk around. It is one of the most authentically restored of all the mission churches in California.

This wonderfully restored mission is worth a visit. The basilica is very interesting as are the various historical displays. Here you have the beginning of modern California & the tomb of the founder, Padre Serra. You will feel like lingering in the courtyard with a fountain flowing.

Every time we come to Carmel, we visit the Mission. I find it so peaceful. I love walking the grounds and love the history associated with it. Docent tours are also something of a treat. Highly recommend.

This is a nice place to visit although it is not very well organized. You can walk about a bit, nothing more.

The first thing that I noticed about this special place was the amazing flower gardens and architecture. Out of the 11 missions I visited on this trip, this one was my favorite. The small building on the property had an interesting film on mission history as well as some cool artifacts and maps. The mission was under heavy duty renovations... More

... from the street parking I could tell this would be a special visit. This is the only mission I've visited that charged to enter the grounds but pay it and go on in!!! Beautiful grounds, especially enjoyed seeing the small cemetery plots outlined in abalone shells and here is where Father Sierra's remains have been layed to rest ...... More
